Re: Off topic: Military service datapase?

I know a lot of veterans that don't have the licence plates. Not everyone likes to advertise it. Stolen Valour is a crime. I don't know of anywhere to check, but you could call him on it and ask to see proof. Every former member should be able to recite their service number in an instant, give you t...

Wow, that thing sure slaps onto the water! I'm not a helicopter person, but it looks a lot like vortex ring state. I hope the teenager in critical condition makes a full recovery.

Les Cowley is the man when it comes to atmospheric optics. His site is really cool:

The correct spelling is "parhelia" and it's the scientific name for a sun dog.

I'm an asshole too because I thought the sacrifice comment was pretty funny. Yes, it sucks that someone died, but those with a morbid sense of humour will laugh. Of all the ways to go...

In this case a very experienced mechanic was sucked in (albeit at 70% power):

Re: Air India ground crew sucked into engine

As written, I don't buy it. If you're standing near the inlet of a large jet engine which is not running, and the pilot "switches it on", you have time to get out of the way before there's enough suction to pull you in. It's a very dumb place to be at all, but it does warn you with a lot of noise a...

Re: Here's a quarter, call someone who cares!

hahaha quite a pilot bash!

So pilots are lazy, the 3 computers do all the work while they drink coffee, they sleep around and breed too much, and buy too many cars while only working 10 hours then getting a break. I've been doing it wrong!

Re: Headset Competition S1 VS Zulu PFX VS AV100 VS A20

Telex got it right with the 50D. I've used it in many loud turbine and piston aircraft. It has been exceptional. I tried a Lightspeed Zulu in my Pitts, and it couldn't keep up with the noise.

When I first read the headlines I thought he must be an experienced BASE jumper. Nope. Just a jackass with 30 or so jumps under his belt. Not only did he fail to plan for the airspace, now the judge gets to see his shit-eating grin in his TV interview claiming it was the best thing he's ever done an...
