I sat beside a Jewish passenger once on Air Canada, and she had a special "Kosher" meal brought out that was apparently blessed by a rabbi.

Hmm. Maybe Jews and Muslims have more similarities that I thought. Both need 'blessed' food, and both don't eat pork.....

I don't think it can harm an engine, if you do it momentarily. Luscombes, Cubs, Taylorcrafts, Cessna 140's etc often don't have a mixture control, so you have to turn it off with the mags, and if that fails, turn the fuel off!

Try http://www.cessna170.org They might have a pre-purchase list of things to watch out for when inspecting and might be able to answer some questions. Best of luck!

They haven't hired since spring 2002, and I imagine hundreds have retired since then. I heard around 2500 currently.

I heard it was had a bunch of drums full of fuel in the back so it could make the non-stop flight, and a guy would go back and transfer fuel into the main tanks during flight.

It's done all the time in reverse. Guys here go to some overseas country and marry a woman, shes happy to get a chance to move here. Same thing, some poor pilot wants a flying job over there. Maybe she's responsible for you for the next 10 yr too!

Imagine if they could find a pilot to withstand it. He even pulled off a perfect autorotation landing at the end.

I took this program a few years back and enjoyed it. The bonus is that at least when I was there it was only a 2 year program, so I got all my courses and licences done in 2 years, while you take 3-4 years doing Sault, Seneca, or UWO. I had my ppl before I started. but did the rest there. The equipm...

[quote="Indo"]Hmm .. have you never seen a turban?

I work out of Toronto. I've seen a turban or 2!

But seriously, I think it's a matter of company policy for beards. The O2 masks in out planes specifically state that you shouldn't have a beard so it makes a good seal.

Many companies, including the one I work at don't allow beards because the O2 masks won't provide a proper seal. As for turbins??? :?

We should all take it as a hard lesson learned. Don't put you own $$$ up for a job. End of story. Signing a training bond is different, but its not your $$$ at least. On a side note, I see that A Skydive operation out of toronto has their annual ad in the COPA classifieds. This guy has burned a lot ...

They could likely do it through court, but it would take a long time like anything in the courts, and could cost you an awful lot of money. You know how those evil lawyers are.

A training bond is one thing, but these guys got personal loans in THEIR names and handed the cheques to Jetsgo. I feel bad for them, but you knew the risks.

Personally I would have rather took 30000 to the Casino and bet it all on on roulette

I heard something on the news about the pilots being SOL for the 30000 training. Also heard that some of the crews on overnights got booted out of their hotels since JG wasn't going to pay for the rooms!! Nice way to treat your employees!!
