Re: How to improve flight training.
https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2019/06/eviationaliceparisairshow.jpg?quality=82&strip=all I think it's likely that the tailwheel config was chosen to protect the tail prop on takeoff and in the flare. With nose wheel config it would be pretty easy to inadvertently get a prop strike ...

Re: How to improve flight training.
Let me toss this out there...if we really want pilots with good hands and feet - and the MAX issue is demonstrating that in spades - how about making an aerobatic endorsement mandatory, particularly if it is on a tail dragger? Hit two birds with one stone - better hands and feet from a tail dragger...

Re: How to improve flight training.
To fly a tailwheel aircraft one must be a good pilot. Everyone pilot should be a good pilot Therefore every pilot should fly a tailwheel aircraft. Sounds like one of those weird questions on the Nav Canada wonderlic recruitment test: True or false, Joe flies a Cessna 172, according to the above sta...

Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes
https://www.pilotcareercentre.com/Aviation-Pilot-Recruitment-News-Item/8502/Harbour-Air-starts-multi-year-conversion-to-electric-powered-flight According to this article Harbour Air is going to have a plane ready for test flying by November, doesn't seem very believable. One thing that is for sure i...

Re: Scariest time as a pilot
I never screwed around with Navajos in icing...well same goes for turbine anything, but slightly more tolerant when there's reserve power and more altitude options in pressurized airplanes The MU-2 pilots always said they'd rather be in a Navajo in ice. When was that incident over mabel lake? Befor...

Re: Scariest time as a pilot
Scariest for me was my 1st day on the job as a FO on a cargo Navajo and having the 22 year old Captain pull this Top Gun, high G 90 degree bank 50 feet off the ground right after takeoff. As the stall warning was going off I surly thought the 20 thousand hour wing spar was going to snap. How did I d...

Your probably more likely to get stabbed outside the liquor store picking up more Champaign than a flying accident.

Re: New TC Cannabis rules
So the only way it would work is if you had 4 weeks of holidays a year and you took them all at once, then you could smoke weed the 1st day of your holidays and that's it. If that rule is even true it's like it was designed not to work.

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot
Another option to consider if you have the ambition and drive is to build your own house, I did it, it took me 5 years while I worked full time and lived in a travel trailer in the driveway. Im not talking about paying a contractor to do it for you, or being your own contractor, I'm talking about d...

Re: Bose aviation headsets...pleased be advised:
It does kinda suck nowadays how everything is throwaway, 10 years old in my opinion shouldn't be obsolete and not repairable, especially since the company is still in business. Electronic repair shops seem to be a dying thing these days. I'd just fix it myself, saves the frustration of having to dea...

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot
When I went to my bank for a mortgage they did a pretty good job of making me feel like a loser because they said I didn't make enough to qualify for the amount I needed which was only 200k. I then went to a broker and they offered me 50k more than the bank would right away, and that was enough of ...

The banks don't think beyond their little world. When I applied for a mortgage they said they could give me X amount of $, I said if you give me a bit more I can afford something close to work to avoid commuting therefore saving about $500 a month which in turn could go towards the mortgage. They s...

Re: Salary, benefits, and reality.
Im getting off topic but i applied at certain air operator once and they wouldn't tell you your salary or even if you were hired until you did their 5 days of ground school, on your own time of course. That was 12 or so years ago, I realize things are better now but the crap that the aviation indust...
