Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.
You should never take the FIRST deal given to you. Basic negotiations. Go back and ask for more and get more. Our union guys are afraid to stand up to AC. Jazz paid ALPA dues this whole time. The MEC at Jazz cannot represent GGN best interest. This is not a merger. We are only offering them employm...

Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.
Sounds like a great deal to me  I think Jazz guys care more about their working conditions, benefits, pay, and flow to AC than they care about how many planes they have in their fleet. With the movement going on these years, I doubt anybody is getting laid off. Even with GGN pilots coming ...

Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.
I'm convinced that most of the Jazz pilots would never vote on a contract that would have any GGN pilots being "awarded" a higher seniority than they will, nor will the accept them coming to Jazz and expecting to keep their position and aircraft type. I certainly would have vote it down. I couldn't ...

Re: 17 year TA?
It's simple: 1. Dangle a carrot 2. Give them a reason to be thankful 3. Instill a bit of fear 4. Make them sign a contract that will bite them, and future pilots, in the @$$. 5. Have ALPA tell them "If you don't do this... the world will collapse" Let's hope Jazz pilots learned their lesson from the...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??
I would imagine so. The Q can do pretty much every classic route out of YYZ except for Sarnia maybe. I would think the remaining -300s would do some flying out of YVR the Q can't get into and some YUL stuff to the smaller places in Kaybec that wouldn't be viable in a 78 seat aircraft. Just my guess...

Fantastic gesture. I didn't even know the ATC guys were affected by the partial shutdown. Next time I'm flying down to Southern US, I'll make sure to thank them.

Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.
Interesting times. I can't see I saw that coming. So AC owning part of "Jazz" now, would that put it at a conflict of interest, in regard to GGN and SKY? If you owned part of my company, and gave work away to a competitor, how would I feel about that? Honestly, I have to admit: I'm very perplexed w...

Re: New hire bids
THANK YOU for this post. This is the attitude I’ve been sold on that jazz pilots have. A POSITIVE one. Yesterday I was reading all the bickering back and forth and was honestly dissapointed at what I was reading. I’m in the pool and very much looking forward to joining this great company. No compan...

Re: First Day as a new First Officer
I remember flying for the first time on the right seat of a turboprop. I was a little nervous, but I was lucky enough to have my friend as a captain. I felt very at ease with him. The number one thing I told myself is: "You worked hard to be here and completed every stage of your training / exams. Y...

Re: New hire bids
They wouldn't be happy if Jazz paid 80k to start. You just can't reason with millennials. Yes they would be happy with 80K a year as an F/O. That's about the starting livable wage for someone that doesn't want to drive 500 km to work every day or have to take a 1 hour flight. I'm not a "millennial"...

Re: New hire bids
If we're going to dish the insults, let's start with Air Canada; the company that is supposedly "the best to work for" in Canada and how they pay their F/Os 50K a year. I believe Canada takes the award for the lowest paid widebody pilots in the world. The majority of us pilots here in Canada are lik...

Re: Grooming Update
Again schooner, it has nothing to do with "not mingling with the back" it has to do with the fact that WestJet now wants FA'S to "write up" pilots for not "volunteering" to do something "not in their job duties". A company that has guaranteed they will never see my resume when the time comes. Agree...

Re: New hire bids
Flying the RJ at Jazz... vs the Q or DH8 is like working for a completely different company. If I would've gotten the RJ, I still would've been at Jazz now. Sorry if already asked but what year did you start at Jazz? Where were you working before that? I worked up North and left Jazz not too long a...

Re: New hire bids
I doubt the Q guys work more for their money. I can't comment on YVR or YYC, but I really doubt Calgary was much better than Toronto. What did the classic do? Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Fort Mac, Saskatoon and Winnipeg? Maybe a little BC flying, but I doubt that much. YVR guys probably have it better...

Re: Westjet mainline interview
Are you crazy? $1200 pay cheques every two weeks if you're lucky enough to be making perdiems while on reserve. At least 15+ years for an upgrade. Or maybe go to Swoop for a paycut and lose YOS. Give your head a shake. But... but.... you get to fly a 737!!! Ryanair pilots make more. God I gag...

Re:
From what I've been told about the "differences" on the Q to DH8 and vice versa is "its at the companies discretion". If THEY need you on a different time and it suits them they can "give you the course" and you're unfrozen. But I've never heard of it happening.....but they kinda leave it out there...
