Re: What to expect as a new hire
I have not heard back from SW but I also haven't checked if they have called my references. I will probably call them in the next few days to see if they got a reference check from SW to get an idea.

Re: CMA
Very true statement-especially in the Vancouver area, cost of living is insane yet the operators here somehow get away with paying the least for any pilot position whereas you go elsewhere in the country, you get on average 20-30k more a year with a lower cost of living. Kind of backwards if you ask...

Any idea how long Sunwing usually takes to get back after interview before offering a position or PFO? When is the next GS scheduled for? Any info would be awesome-thanks!

I did not have a technical exam. Just a relaxed and fun straight one hour interview with four people.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Interviews are starting July 15th for two weeks. Got the invite over the phone. I have no jet time, but have 4300TT and mostly turboprop MPIC and no 705 time. I was training captain at all of my companies I have worked so far. Bilingual, no degree but diploma. Good luck for those who applied! I appl...

Just wondering the regular details: where does the flying go out of YYZ on the 757, how many days a month work, is it commutable from West Coast, how long until Vancouver base(or is there even one?), pay, bond, upgrade time etc

Re: Encore Requirements
Alright, stop nickel and dimming your hours like some kid who’s counting enough pennies to buy a candy bar... okay that was sarcasm but there is some truth to this. Do yourself and passengers a favour and get some real world PIC before getting a left seat job in a 705..what’s the rush getting to enc...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Is there any way to see the progress of your application? I first applied 2.5 years ago and just a few months ago updated my resume on job 18853 non-express portal. Did they slow down interviews due to the Max being grounded or something?

Re: Westjet or Sunwing
Sunwing. If you go to WJ you might get “Swooped”. Plus you’ll get perpetually bumped down the list by the Encore folks. I don’t know what the time to a left seat at WJ would be but I bet it’s a very long time. You are wrong. On the application is specifically asks would you go to Swoop, mainline or...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Take home net pay for Jazz FOs especially on reserve is around $2000 a month. There is an oversupply of FOs on reserve so we rarely get called to fly and basically make no perdiems or overtime pay. When you factor in the average cost of rent for a one bedroom condo in YYZ or YVR being $2000 a month...

When I said full bathroom, in airplane standards, it means there is an actual sink to wash your hands. Not just hand sanitizer spray.

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
I would go to Sunwing. Personal preference. I prefer jet time and a 737 type rating and heavier time vs a turboprop or light RJ. Sunwing pay is better and upgrade pay is way better than Jazz. You have the option of being stationed overseas which is very inresting, unlike Jazz that flies to Fort what...

Re: Flair V3
This new livery reminds me an awful lot of an older non-existing UK LCC from the late 90’s early 2000’s founded by BA called Go-fly. It ended up getting bought out by Easyjet. Needless to say, Flair seems to have the trait of a teenager struggling with their identity going through different phases e...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up
WestJet/Swoop/Flair/Whatever are able to crew their aircraft at whatever rates they're offering because pilots accept those rates. You guys make it sound like the airlines are unilaterally forcing wages down, and the pilots are just poor hapless victims in all this, but wages are low because pilots...
