Re: Final FAA rule on Min Hours to be a PIC or 1st Officer

Number of hours flown are not a complete picture of a pilot's competence, IMHO.

Re: Looking for info on London Air Services

It explains why they have had a job ad up for the better part of a year. I am glad no one is taking it - hopefully it sends a message.

Re: Plane missing in Antarctica

I too am checking this site on the hour. Bob gave me - a complete stranger - a bunch of great advice when I was starting out as well. Lots of prayers sent for a safe recovery. I don't spend much time on Avcanada any more but it is sure nice to see all the good wishes. Godspeed to all the folks invol...

Re: Idiots of the year......................

NWONT made a reference to bush flying and how some pilots won't fly with "a snowflake" on their planes. I was referring to the bad old days when I flew Navajos and turbines and the boss would hand a spray bottle and a broom for deicing but "only if we really needed it." This guy would come in rantin...

Re: Idiots of the year......................

Don't let it bother you akoch. The attitude of many on this site is if they haven't personally done it, well then it just shouldn't be done. Many here would turn down a flight if there is one single snowflake on the wings and the runway isn't bare and dry and wiped with a hanky. You're dealing with...

Re: Idiots of the year......................

This one gets my vote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWUG1FuALaw AN-24? This is actually normal for this airplane, it was designed for operation from dirt and mud fields for far north and Siberia. And has been doing it for the last 40 years. And it is in its POH. As you see it is still flying. The...

YYZ Guys

A question for you: we fly out of the north end so will take 23 whenever possible. The sid is always up to 5000. If we get a clearance of one of the 24s then request 23 (almost always get it) then we are told to stop climb at 3000. Switching to departure we will typically get normal climb to 7000. J...

Re: Wooden Prop Decoration

Some people sell them for $1000 or more but if you spend time searching EBay you can get a nice one for a few hundred. Make sure you search "wood propellor", "wooden propellor", "wood propeller" and "wooden propeller". It's amazing what you can find because of a spelling mistake. I got mine for $225...
