My apologies scrambled, I obviously didn't have sufficient coffee in me when I read/posted this morning. Perhaps next time I should start straight off with the beer.

Re: Baggage Fees on Air Canada
Everyone keeps slamming Air Canada for the fees they impose, the crappy food you have to buy etc. Have you flown Westjet recently? No free head set like Air Canada, you have to buy it. No free movies like Air Canada, you have to pay for them. Crappy food for purchase just like Air Canada. Why is no ...

Re: Island Lake
Implementing gates in uncontrolled airspace and requiring people to use them? It is uncontrolled airspace, A/C can do what they want. How would you compel them to comply without making it controlled airspace? Have you thought of holding a users meeting at the airport and discussing this idea? Perhap...

Re: It's Official: Fort McMurray will be getting a control tower
Who thinks this fucking @#$! up. IF that was even considered.................. Rest assured it was considered last fall. The company approached the union and said that they wanted to discuss the possibility. I never heard the outcome, though prior to the meeting it was my impression that...

Re: It's Official: Fort McMurray will be getting a control tower
Ft Mac needs a tower badly! Nobody is disputing that. The company doesn't want to open a real tower there because it would cost them too much money and they probably would have difficulty finding people to go there what with the cost of living etc. It'll be interesting to see where they come up wit...

Re: It's Official: Fort McMurray will be getting a control tower
I guess the days of telling your trainee to "Get your head out the window where it belongs" are gone. I can't believe we are going down this road. They are going to have to write a whole new chapter to MANOPS. Chapter 3A - "Almost VFR But Not Quite IFR Control"
What a bunch of morons.

Re: why ATC should have a aviation back ground
I am all for more sim time to practice. Every one of my co-workers feels the same way. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, the company has been pinching us on refresher time for a number of years. It's a matter of cost to them. On a more positive note, when are you buying us lunch?

Re: why ATC should have a aviation back ground
Is this extra to your annual Refresher and PERF? This is separate from PERF (for those who get it) and if I am not mistaken, will be called part of refresher. At the center where I work (as well as inverted) in my specialty we have not received sim time dealing with emergencies / unusual situations...

Re: Airport off the hook for navigation equipment expense
I believe the problem was, the airport authority decided to lengthen runway 09/27 and for some reason the ILS on 15 was removed and a new one installed on runway 09. I think NavCanada was saying the airport authority extended the runway and wanted an ILS installed on it thus they should pay for it. ...
