Re: Getting an aviation headset to work on a MacBook
I'm trying to figure out a way to get both the microphone and the earphones to work on a MacBook. I have found a DIY way of getting the earphones to work but not the microphone. Does anyone have any idea on a workaround? There are some boxes you can buy that are over $100 USD that I have looked at,...

Would almost rather dish out the cash for a business class ticket or just not go anywhere at all. No thank you on that middle seat.

Re: YUL Base
I’ve flown lots in Quebec over the last 15 years to many places there. I’ve always managed to get by with pretty much zero French. I never thought about google translate. They usually have English menus at most restaurants if you ask. The issue presents itself more if you relocate. Not so much if i...

Re: YUL Base
Thats pretty sad... 2 official languages in Canada you should at least be able to get by in your second one. Holding google translate up to the menu like you are in china or something is ridiculous in your own country The majority of Canadians don’t care about knowing French, it’s a dying language ...

Re: Renting out your privately registered aircraft
Being the name insured, I believe that I will also be able to rent out to those with a PPL or higher (likely those with a PPL building time towards their CPL will be interested) as long as I'm onboard. My idea is to just come along for the ride and get good at using foreflight, radio proficiency, a...

Re: YUL Base
Correct. Which is also not what I was saying. I said French is useful in a YUL base because of daily life. It doesn’t have any bearing on being awarded the base; that’s seniority only. I've heard Montreal is way more English compared to a place like Quebec City. So there's that too. But for sure it...

No. It is not. Language has zero impact on what base you can hold. Only seniority. Correct. Which is also not what I was saying. I said French is useful in a YUL base because of daily life. Re: YUL Base
Certainly helpful. But not at all required for Pilots. Thx to both of you. Yea thats what I would think. Preference I assume is probably given to guys with French if your looking at two guys and that's the difference. No. It is not. Language has zero impact on what base you can hold. Only seniority...

Re: Cargojet stll hiring
Does anyone know if Cargojet is still considering FOs without a 767 type rating or are only guys with type ratings getting interview calls? Thanks I don’t know for sure but my assumption would be only the rated folks at the moment. There’s probably lots who are qualified and the current posting imp...

Re: Airlines must adapt to survive
I really must brush up on my interview skills then... I have heard it happening in the past, but it is amazing that it has happened recently , because the companies have been telling people otherwise. I should have thought about coming back a little sooner! Most of the 250 hour cases were direct fr...

Yeah, I'm a bit too wise to beg to be exploited :prayer: If you think aviation is the only industry that does this, you need to reevaluate. Every industry and every profession has their own variety of “work ramp up north for poverty wages for years first”. I agree lots of industries have a "do your...

Re: New collective agreement
The TA has been approved by the pilot group and has become a collective agreement. It came in effect April 1st. As for the layoffs, no news from the MEC yet, but I guess they will tell us whenever they have something of interest, just like they did with the TA. I thought the 16500 included both Jaz...
