Re: Cheyenne 400 LS vs. MU-2
The Mu-2 is a great machine in my opinion but I am probably slightly biased. To go that distance constantly would be a push depending on the individual machine’s empty weight. The Cheyenne 400 isn’t operated by too many commercial operators so that probably speaks for itself ($$$$$$$$) but nice airc...

Re: Garrett TPE331 Beta Light Illumination in flight
Maybe this helps to explain it better. In Prop Gov mode the oil pressure is metered at the Prop Gov and in Beta mode the oil pressure meter point is the follower sleeve in the PPC. If the prop is stuck, no amount of oil will change the blade angle (position of the Beta Tube). In this diagram imagine...

Re: Garrett TPE331 Beta Light Illumination in flight
All this to prevent Beta operation during power reduction. Understand that the PPC is just a passageway for the oil from the Prop Governor to enter the propeller dome in “Prop Governor” mode of operation. In-flight, low airspeed and reduced power (airload on the prop) will cause the Prop Governor t...

Re: Garrett TPE331 Beta Light Illumination in flight
The POH calls for it to be shut down on the Mu-2 however, if there are no other abnormalities and you have RPM control it should be fine as it is probably just a bad pressure switch. The thing is, if you do NOT have RPM control you have what is known as a ‘stuck’ prop which is essentially now a fixe...

Re: Lorna deBlicquy @ 77
I am sorry to hear this. I knew Lorna in the 70’s when I was instructing at Voyageur Airways. She did an instructor renewal ride on me while she was working for Transport Canada. Sid Cowley (sp?) was her boss at the time. It was one of the most memorable rides I ever did.
She will be missed.

262 sm/hr block actually.
And when we operated two (brand new) PC-12's they were 221 sm block in our operation.

Re: Job Offer Requires Immediate Reply?
• Pilot walks in and gives two weeks notice (if you are lucky). • Employer starts “process” to find replacement. Interviews candidate that he/she seems suitable. Time elapsed: 2 to 3 days minimum… • Employee accepts job offer 24 hours later: now day 4 • Future employee gives notice at current job… •...

If you really think that you have the world by the tail and are making the "big-bucks"; you should really think about re-investing some of that money in grade 2 spelling lessons. You should be able to work up from there.

Re: Flightsafety DHC-6 training
That was a few years ago... and I knew all three. Did a instructors ride with one. He was great. He was known for: ask >>??>> a qustion and he will do the ride you. He did and explained how it was. He knew his stuff. Could not ask for a better bunch. The guy that "survived" was in the back. He was g...
