Re: B737 Max Type rating or just additional training ?
Question for Gilles: who do you think is going to get on the MAX as a passenger? I for one, am hesitant, and I know quite a bit about flying, although nothing about the B737 as a pilot. Everyone else needs a little reassurance to say the least. Offer fares $50 cheaper and people will get on it........

I agree, lots will change between now and Jun 1stGeorge Taylor wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 9:56 am Nothing is for sure until they’re are actually Jet guys in the Dash sim. I think they’re are more games to be played yet.
Re: One list
It does but didn’t stop many from bumping down, the majority of Encore spots are now jets drivers that bumped down. If the MOA was a plan to stop that it didn’t work. Westjet will now have a huge training cost.

Re: MOA2
Are these now the terms for pilots bumping into Encore? Yes, pilots “bumping” into Encore then become governed under the Encore CBA. So the majority of June +6 months of 50MMG, wow. Kiss the onelist goodbye when this is all over. There is no possible way to live on Encore FO pay at 50mmg and unless...

Re: MOA2
Not quite the case. The 250 layoffs at Encore for May 1 are still happening. No further Q layoffs unless you cannot hold a spot once PTA bumping rights are exercised. CEWS for all pilots until program ends + partial top up for active pilots (salary not hourly. ~$5100/month for CPT ~$4600/month for ...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
What Westjetters will have to learn is that ONEX is not WJ. ONEX is the conglomerate that owns WJ. ONEX corporate actions are not centred on WJ. However, the cash that WJ burns is now ONEX cash. Hence the aggressive employee layoffs to cut payroll cost while revenues are virtually non-existent. Hav...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
I’ve heard plans of returning with only 39-737’s and 22-Q400’s. What are the plans for the 787’s and the 767’s? Initially parking or any being returned ? Good luck to all, hope for a quick return. TS I think it's 17-737s and 22-Q400s. 39 aircraft total. Plus 1 787....or maybe more depending on carg...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
Guys a lot of this rumour and speculation could be resolved by just reading the contract and PTA agreement. There is no force majeure clause in the contract. There is something that sounds like a force majeure clause in the layoff section, but it only applies to notice of layoff timelines and layof...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
Blue 42, if they are laying off, there are no vacancies, it’s a surplus. A lot of noise was made and I thought this whole one list was about having a bump and flush based on seniority? What happened to that? It’s still there, nothing has changed and as usual this is all based on a “rumor”....if the...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
Be careful dudes. Rumour has it that company is fighting/arguing interpretations of the CBA and PTA. CEO is trying to force pilots into furlough without using layoff pay or the PTA. No layoff pay because of force majeure clause and no bump down protection is interpreted by the compnay because there...

Re: WestJet Group Hiring Freeze
I think that might be backwards from what I heard. 1700 was the largest layoffs number and 530 was the lowest lay-off number. Either way it’s the same amount roughly given the 2300 total. Maybe I’ve got it backwards. Like you say though no information given until this later this week. We need to se...

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
Exactly. It's the international growth (787's) of WJ that's probably going to take a hit for a couple of years. The low cost part is probably going to see good growth figures. As long as there is cargo to move around the globe I'd rather think the 737 will take the hit. Definitely sounds like a goo...

Re: Two RTO's on the same runway - at the same time
Has anyone noticed how ATC was running the show for both sides of the airport? Tower clears a plane coming in on 05 for landing right after so maybe if they weren't "short" they would have seen the EMJ not lifting off yet and tell the 777 crew....Just my two cents. Ultimately they acknowledged the ...

Re: Vacation question
And the 2 GDOs can be added to the either end of the 5 day block or split 1 & 1 at each end. If you have two blocks of 5, 10 days total, you can added the 4 GDOs at one end as well. Also each block can be taken where ever you can get it, i.e. if you have 5 blocks, you can bid 5 times. I think AC onl...

Yes, would be nice to have everything indexed. Onex - doesnt care. Its obvious. They have communicated zero to us. Westjet mgmt still runs the show and following the strategic plan for WB growth. don't forget about the plan for 30 Swoop tails by 2021 So far the only plan is to move the ten tails to...
