Re: New Flt Crew Regs

Lot's of examples on this thread of why I'm glad pilots aren't self regulating. TC is looking out for the public's interests, not what pilots think will make their schedules include the most days off. Based on my companies pairings I can think of very few duty days that will need to be changed, and...

Re: New Flt Crew Regs

on the upside though it may spur some even more hiring for pilots? But this could increase company costs and create a need for even lower wages :? I don't know if it would actually equate to more pilots on the roster. Anywhere you have pilots that get 10 or 12 GDO/month where they get blocked with ...

Supply demand. They should end up actually paying more per pilot. But they'll sell you your line.

Re: Foreign Pilots at controls of wetlease A/C for Air Trans

Thank you Gilles, those are nice pictures.

Is it reciprocal, and will it be going forward? How many wet leases and pilots have come in? How many is AT sending out?

Re: Foreign Pilots at controls of wetlease A/C for Air Trans

That is Great!! "NO FOREIGN WET LEASES" That is good to hear, I was under the impression that Travel Service had signed a multi year contract with Transat for wet leases. According to the above post Apparently not, good to hear guys! The contract is multi year but Air Transat has the option on the ...

And, as a corollary, how many AT pilots are overseas this summer on reciprocal wet leases? Numbers and bases please.

Re: Horsing around on 121.50.

If guys are chatting on 121.5, doesn't that mean they're monitoring 121.5 as well? At least that's a good thing. You're kidding right? Most guys I know flying over the US have a tolerance of about 2 minutes, or until it distracts them from calls on their other radio. And then they turn off guard be...

Re: Duty Regulations

How long of days are you working now?? It's not a wash if I worked more days meaning I have less time off! And NO I don't understand how more pilots requires equals more pay on an hourly basis? Please explain for the simple minded people! I don't like it either. I work pretty long days right now, l...

Re: Duty Regulations

I'm not sure where people are getting the idea of less pay from. I can see shorter days and more days because of it as the downside. If airlines, however, need an extra x% pilots to do the same work, and it's across the board at every airline, then supply/demand has swung in pilots favour. So don't...

Re: Proposed Flight Crew Fatigue Regs

Letter to CARAC: To whom it may concern: My experiences regarding fatigue having flown mostly 705 ops doing charter and cargo work for 13,000+ hours: 1000 hours a year is not an important number. Work hours are more important than flight hours. For example, I had a month where I flew 12 days and 105...

Re: Globe & Mail on the future of Pilots

Probably, one day...when every agent is replaced with a kiosk, when you self scan through security, when a conveyor belt replaces every ground handler, when flight attendants are replaced by vending machines...those are all easier tasks on which to replace humans.

Re: Proposed Flight Crew Fatigue Regs

AOW Respectfully, almost no one acclimatizes entirely to working nights. Most people switch to more of a day sched on their days off to spend time with friends and family, and almost every cargo pilot I know will tell you that when they get the occasional long day flight it is a a good break. They'l...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet Fleet & Foreign Pilots - Winter 2014-2015

I was told by a TVS pilot that they will be flying for Transat this winter. Do you know if this is true Gilles? If so can you please tell us how many pilots will be arriving and when with which airplanes and whether they are wet-leased or not? Thank you. What I know is that Air Transat dry-leased t...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet Fleet & Foreign Pilots - Winter 2014-2015

Have any of the TFW pilots for Sunwing arrived yet ? Anyone know ? I know about the Czech pilots for the two wet-lease aircraft that are already here, but has anyone run into any of the others ? Last year this time, some had already arrived in Canada for training. I was told by a TVS pilot that the...

Re: Proposed Flight Crew Fatigue Regs

I see pros and cons. It will reduce fatigue, and it will shift the supply demand curve in favour of pilots.

On the other hand it could wreck some high credit flying that isn't that fatiguing because you have lots of days off per month. This will result in more layovers and less productive rosters.
