Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
I’m torn between contacting them to get some answers, or let them do their job knowing they are busy with all the shenanigans related to the recalls and the new variants etc. I just want answers… Has AC sent a letter or email to pilots on cancelled courses with a guaranteed course commitment and ti...

Re: The iATPL programme in Brampton and Jazz Approach
Whatever you do, do not rely solely on PICUS to obtain your ATPL. That's a bad career plan that will come back to bite you one way or another.

Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
Last Jazz pilots will start training somewhere between july and october, depending on how things are ramping up. Not 100% accurate. Last Jazz pilots will start training on their awarded position between july and october. If you factor in pilots being trained temporarily on their previous equipment,...

And what do you mean by CP?
Copilot? Check Pilot? or Chief Pilot? (short road, medium road, long road)

Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
Hi Rudder, For those who may want to remain at Jazz (once the hiring at Jazz and movement to AC resumes), what is your reasoning/theory that it will take 2 yrs to a left seat at Jazz ? Pre-COVID, there were left seat awards at Jazz at or below 2 years of service (I think that some awards may have b...

Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
Given the excess vacancies on the AC bid released today, and the fact the most of our new hires have to come from Jazz I imagine OTS hiring at Jazz will start pretty soon. More likely Jazz pilots start to move to AC September 2022 and that will coincide with Jazz hiring. The training pipeline for b...

1 Tail in YVR, 1 Tail in YYC, 2 perhaps in YUL still and about 3-4 in YYZ. Won't be done completely unit Nov or December Somewhere between Dec 31 and January 31 they will all be parked in YYB or on the way to the scrap yard. All Jazz D8 pilots will be in training in other equipment types. They won'...

Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
All irrelevant at this particular time. Right now, training is at full capacity and with the bid result, training will remain at full capacity well into 2022. If/when the forecast down the road indicates that we both need extra pilots AND we can train them, that's when the hiring will resume. The bi...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid
Keep in mind that to bid into YYC or YVR, you have to already be based there. Western base positions, vacated by pilots migrating to the east, will not be backfilled. Probably true. But there will be roster balancing if there is a large gap between CA and FO. In short, the bid will be run so that a...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid
Personally I'd love if the western jazz guys bid the 175 to free up some RJ spots in yyc and yvr. I won't hold my breath though. As a point of information, the Sky guys down to about seniority number 1350ish were all available to or in the process of upgrading. I'm sure the former Sky yyz and yul g...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid
Rudder, does the 1326 flying positions mean "line pilots" (term you have used in previous posts on this subject) ? Yes. Excludes inactive pilots (med leave/management/training department/LOA). By way of comparison, the last Jazz equipment bid prior to COVID had 1300 flying positions. But it did NOT...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid
Did any of the bases grow or shrink as a result of this bid ? Baseline established to maintain base stability. However, there is an imbalance in that the bulk of the flying will be in the east. The baseline could be adjusted adhoc to allow pilot to migrate from West to East, but not the other way a...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid
The forecasted hours include the Embraer flying and 0 hours for the DH8 obviously, which brings us to 90% of what Jazz alone was flying pre-covid.

Re: Dauntless exam software
For what it's worth, I used Dauntless to prepare for the FAA Instrument, CPL and ATPL (part 135) exam and it was FANTASTIC.
It was back in 2014, and I can't speak to the Canadian exams (Dauntless didn't support them then) but for what I used it, Ican't say anything but good things about it.

It is one OR the other and backward looking. In other word as long as looking backward you meet either a) or b) you are good to go. If however you happen to go 7 days or more in a row, you will NEED option b) to reset. Makes sense? 58 It literally says 'AND' in his quote, and in the original CAR 70...

On single-pilot aircraft, TCCA does not recommend that the pilot-in-command take a break from operating the aircraft in flight, for a nutrition break. I am very surprised this is not prohibited...who is going to operate a single-pilot aircraft in flight if the PIC is taking a nutrition break  ...
