Re: Apple or Android for Tablet Navigation?
I just saw that the ipad mini 5 may be coming out next week (Oct 30th). I will be selling my ipad mini4 and probably grabbing an ipad mini 5. It's perfect size in cramped GA aircraft. I also use the 10.5 ipad if it's a longer x-country, it's just easier to look at.

Plane Rental in US in a US plane with a US Instructor
Hi I’m going travelling into the US this week for work and am renting a172 with an instructor. I have my PPL, can I count the time in the aircraft as part of my dual training for my CPL? My inclination is “no” for the fact of the non canadian aircraft and non canadian instructor. But I can still cou...

thanks! I fly mostly in non-radar covered airspace. Next time I do a route in radar serviced area, i'll go back on to Flightaware to check it out.

Flightaware?
Just curious...
I typed in my registration into flightaware and it had posted a flight I did from a Canadian airport to a US Airport. No other flights had been recorded or displayed. I don't have ads-b out. But I do have a garmin inreach.
Any ideas on how flightaware works?

Re: Should I find a new instructor, or is this a normal first few lessons?
I changed flight schools after 7 hours at one school. At that first school in the 7 lessons, I never took off once, never landed, and basically felt like a fool. I switched schools and was taking off and landing on first lesson. A waste of time during my first 7 hours of training in southern ontario...

Re: Plane crash at Sechelt airport
I flew into Sechelt on Wednesday and landed and departed on 29 in a 172. There was no wind but I still felt some windshear over those trees on the rising terrain. My camera was set to the wrong settings, but here is what i filmed https://www.dropbox.com/s/0dfbdx33zm1w8 ... d.mov?dl=0

Wow!! I sent in my material for the Verification of Authenticity of Foreign License on Jun 21 to the FAA and received my letter from them today, to contact the FSDO after 24 hours. Transport Canada provided FAA all the info they needed within 2 weeks!

Re: Self study hours ppl
Strip it down. 1. You need someone to sign you off to write the ground 2. You have to pass the test 3. You need a way to log your flight training hours. Either in your own plane or an FTU. I dont think an FTU will turn you away for not doing your ground with them, they will make enough money from yo...

Departing Teterboro NYC this past week. we are a C172RG and we are positioned between large turbine private jets taking off from Runway 01. Tower clears us to "line up and wait" after a big boy citation takes off. The three of us in the airplane are all pilots (PPL) and Tower tells us we're clear fo...

Re: Licence renewal time
Pacific Region TC has some great and responsive folks working there. When I have needed something answered or addressed, both for aircraft or licensing or medical, they have been great. I've even had someone answer the published phone number from time to time, but leaving a voicemail has also been p...

Reserve cost per hour 172
Hi, I was having a discussion today with a friend and we were debating what they ask each fractional owner to pay per hour toward an annual and toward the Overhaul at 2200 on a 172. I've seen numbers between $40-$80 per hour for a 172 (E2D). There are things that have to get done at an annua, regard...

Re: SPOT mounting options for Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee
put the spot in your pocket! Depending on how often you're dropping breadcrumbs though. Problem with spot is that it doesn't go directly to SAR. A PLB does, i believe.
