Re: Current domestic load factors

I’ve only been on a handful of flights (6) in the past 2 months. All were wide open. Anywhere from 7 pax to roughly 1/2 full. I’m sure domestic Lf is higher then anything else.

Pretty strange going through pre clear my first flight and I was the only person in security and customs.

Re: Nolinor Aviation Starts New Airline

Throw some winds in, throw some enroute weather in, throw no close alternate airports in. Now enjoy your stopover somewhere other then your destination. Then throw in new duty regs and enjoy a night on OMG’s dime.

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

I don’t have any skin in the game but from the outside I’d say AT is much better positioned to get through Covid. Next question is do the AT pilots still want to join AC?

The big margins in the vacation business is hotels and peripherals. Do it yourselves and never look back.

Re: Will Flair/Sunwing survive

Gilles and Boeing are correct. Add to that aircraft purchasing/leases, fuel, insurance even down to the price of ACARS. Joint ventures into hotels which in turn led Sunwing to starting their own hotel chain in 2011. https://www.bluediamondresorts.com/about-us/about-us Oh and don’t forget about Sunwi...

Re: Nav Canada to Hike Service Fees by 30%

Not for profit are some of the worst run enterprises. If navcan was treated like a business there would be massive cuts like everywhere else. If not they would be bankrupt or heading at the speed of light towards it. Saying your fees haven’t risen in the past 15 years only means one thing. They were...

Out of curiosity altiplano how much money should the company lose before you feel it’s necessary to hit the panic button?

How long do you think AC has before it’s filing for CCAA at its current burn rate?

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

I don’t think a lot of you are understanding the cash burn rate or the major shit the industry is in as a whole. AC only requires about 300 pilots right now. You should be talking about avoiding CCAA rather then duty regs.

Only way to do it would be by aircraft type. And I’m sure it’s being discussed.

There’s no more sun destination flying. Countries are closing borders. This is inevitable. It’s going to happen to every Canadian carrier. Get ready for it.

Sunwing isn’t out of business. Just on pause until this crap passes.

No one can answer that question other then you. If your doing well now with a good work/life balance I’d say just get your own airplane and fly it around. Way more fun then flying commercially. It turns into a job like everything else.

I ran the numbers, ball parking a landing weight of 63,000kgs. Using the talpa arc (1500 feet) medium braking or 3 (best case) flap 40 and 2 engine reverse it came up with 8150 feet for max auto brake. 11 knot tailwind 12 knot crosswind. Most NG are good for 15 knot tailwind landings. Max x-wind wou...

Just ask the questions here? No secret about bases. Looks like our Canadian permanent bases just grew by 1. It’s now YVR, YYC, YYZ, YUL and YQB. Bid is currently open for YYC base. We’re hiring another 100 pilots. Summer bases are finalized last part of January. It’s travel service we always wait fo...

Re: Why can they get passenger rights but no proper rest and fatigue rules?

Watch what you wish for. The EU regs aren’t much better then Canada. And it takes way more time to figure out. Shorter days also lead to more days worked and less days off. What do you think needs changing? I think all we need is lowering duty day length with increased sectors and limiting night tim...

Re: 2004 Pelee Island Georgian Express Van crash now in court

Two different companies 47. I was there when it was Canadian then AC. This accident was a long time ago. Not under the most recent management. But again I was on the 1900 side. The only thing we were “forced” to do was taxi aircraft all over the airport for positioning. When the current ex Georgian ...

Certainly not my experience from Georgian. Prior to this accident the caravan had one fatal crash in Barrie and a near fatal in north bay. There were numerous memos stating the caravan operation was to shut down if their was known ice or forecast ice. How would the lady in Pelee know what mr price s...

Did you read my link? Navcanada is teaming up with uvionics to make a one antenna system on the wing tip. Covers reception from space and the ground. I also think their tail position light would work as well.

I have no clue what your finances are like. But you might want to try secondary lenders, I’ll get to that in a second. I remember sitting with my banker years ago and saying it’s BS I can’t use per diem towards mortgages or loans. He said the bank will look at it if it’s been more then two years. Th...

Please stop calling it “Sunwing’s”. We only have 1 wing.

Oh and we don’t hire pilots because they took an 8 month course.
