Re: J'accuse
Shit, the whole industry may as well sign for ALPA. As a WHOLE, we could have national representation. Imagine that. Even if it was just the majors - AC, WJ, Transat, Sunwing who all went with the same association, our voices would be louder than ever. Here's to better working conditions for all of...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
At Sky Regional we were asked to forward a resume to Air Canada by Aug 31st, 2015. Out of aproximately 200 pilots on our list at the time probably 75 percent forwarded their resume. Then Air Canada proceeded with a telephone interview to those who applied and I would say about 30 out of 150 were giv...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
This is just my opinion. I don't think AC will be able to pull that many from the express carriers, as the feed is very important to their growth strategy. They will simply say no to the more senior guys at the regionals to retain experience, as these guys/girls will have no where else to go. Pay wi...

Re: Winter Bid released today.
For the record, we DIDN'T sign off on encore working conditions, we agreed in principle to a regional airline. Period. Those (WAWCON) were supposed to be negotiated after, but that didn't happen.
HI Kag, So on the first page of the Encore's "Agreement", it clearly says "Agreement be...

You GGN scabs thought you were getting dirty looks before?? Better bring your big girl panties Very classy comment BingBong!! That really helps. How about the Westjet pilots that created the incredible working conditions at Encore?! Or at least signed off on it. Their names are on the front of the ...

Re: Pilot mobility agreement
The Jazz PML was/is all about $$$$. I think it pains some Air Canada types that this deal exists. It was/is a good deal for the Jazz pilots who were facing a concessionary contract negotiation with Jazz management and Air Canada. It moved the pilot list immensely and that benefits everyone including...

Re: Sky regional
Yes, Jazz's starting hourly wage is lower but the total package is larger than Sky's in my opinion. Benefits, scheduling rules, and pension more than make up the difference. Compare a 5 yr Jazz pilot vs a 5 yr Sky pilot and see who is further ahead. Also you can't compare PML's as only Jazz has an o...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Q....why doesn't ACPA take any ownership on who gets hired at AC? You would think being a professional union shop they would require candidates to come from a professional unionized shop. Art ACPA, or any Union, has zero say in who gets hired. That's not their mandate and that's not how unions work...

Re: Air Canada Pool
AC has been pretty selective from Sky. So far successful candidates are from the 5 big schools or hold a university degree. Even MFC or having multiple internal recommends are not cutting it. So, if you are coming to Sky just for the so called PML, please give it a long hard thought. However, I agre...

Re: WESTJET PILOT FATIGUE
How about the regionals? (Sky, Encore and Georgian) these companies fly right to the CAR's limits. And in Sky's case, they fly right into the busiest airspace in the world on a a daily basis (LGA, ORD, DCA and soon ATL). It is written right into Sky's terms of employment that you are expected to wor...

Disparity between mainline and regional
It seems the disparity between mainline pilot wawcon and regional pilot wawcon is getting larger and larger. Who is to blame for this? Management? Unions? Pilots? I believe all three. Management obviously wants to get seats in the air for the lowest costs. They would have 777's in the Express brand ...

Way to make sure the brakes are working....ever heard of alittle finesse Good call BingBong! :smt008 Must have been the same cowboys that were in the front of my flight yesterday on landing in YYZ. A very nice flight overall except for spraying Type 4 on an obviously clean wing without any precipit...

Re: Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?
I am just intrigued by the style in which the press release was written. Westjet makes it sound like a set in stone contract with a certified union… (which it isn't) I wonder if Westjet is planning to spin-off little Encore and one of the conditions is stablized labour? (Which it is far from) Still ...

Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?
Anyone care to share some highlights?? "ratified agreement" ? "93 percent of eligible pilots voted" ? What was the yes percentage? I didn't think any of the pilots at Westjet/Encore were part of a certified union? Art Transmitted by CNW Group on : December 20, 2015 20:00 WestJet Encore pilots approv...

Re: Jets at 'The Island.'
I live at the end of Stadium Rd and I can tell you the landslide infrastructure is already overwhelmed. I have personally seen taxi cabs lay on the horn because school kids are crossing the road with a crossing guard. I am not opposed to having an airline operate out of the airport but a 20 airplane...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Yes Jazz pilots, you still have access to 80% of the AC ground schools. Sky and GGN are occupying the other 20%. I belieive 2 GGN and 2 Sky pilots are on the next AC ground school.
From what I hear a lot of Jazz pilots are differing so making it very difficult to plan.

Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
If I were to guess, I would say the 5 Q's are Sky's. It just makes sense on a cost basis. The only hiccup would be that the Island's gate agents and ramp are Sky Regional employees. Jazz crews will get along fine as they are super friendly. Name calling between Jazz, Sky, GGN, and Encore are not goi...

Re: Sky Regional Contracting out work
So what is the fix? Takeoff has it pretty accurate. I know you Jazz guys are high on ALPA but what has ALPA done or doing to fix this? I know ALPA is more than just wage and working conditions and have played instrumental roles in many safety improvements. However, what they let happen to Comair was...

Re: Sky Regional Contracting out work
Jazz pilots need to look at Halifax, where the true costs are hiding. How many VP's? How many directors? How many general managers? How many $$ fly out the window to shareholders? Blaming other pilots? really? You guys are starting to tarnish your previously good professional image.

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
Today my regional day consisted of 4 sectors flying a total of 288 pax for a total flight time of 6 hours and 41 minutes. It sounds a lot like a 767 YYZ-LHR kind of day. So, how come I don't get paid the same as a 767 skipper? I'm willing to bet my passengers yielded a lot more too! This is what I d...
