Really sad to hear about Mr. Cowden.
It looks like he was in an inverted (flat) spin, recovered low, pulled hard, stalled and entered a secondary spin.

I've been using a Telex 50D since shortly after they came out. My audiograms are consistently stellar.

Re: Pitts s1c good for competition ?
I think 135 is a little weak, but it's more the pilot than the plane because even a C is very capable. An S-1C with 135hp would be great for sportsman. Intermediate would be a good challenge too, but the judges will be straining their eyes as you climb up and turn that potential energy into kinetic!...

Re: SPOT Tracker Interference
PLB more expensive than SPOT? A gen 3 spot retails for $169.99, plus $150 subscription fee per year. An Ocean Signal PLB is $344.00 on aircraft spruce http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/pages/av/elts_0plbs_rescueme/rescueme13-15492.php so the PLB pays for itself after the first year subscription is up! I ...

Re: SPOT Tracker Interference
I haven't had much luck with my 1st gen SPOT and the customer service has been terrible. It must have a clear view of the sky, and I found that if positioned too close to my garmin portable GPS, it does not work. I have never found it to interfere with any avionics, just the opposite. Get yourself a...

Re: Pitts S-1S For Sale
I know of another really nice S-1S for sale! And it's Canadian registered! http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=95457 plug-plug! :D I don't understand the complete lack of interest in purchasing these planes. It teaches you so much about flying and is amazing fun! It is less than a new...

Re: WestJet Captain receives passenger's sexist note
figure out which passenger it was, and ban them from flying on WestJet. "I'm sorry, since we employ male and female pilots, we think you should find another airline to fly with so that you can rest easy during your flight knowing that a manly man is at the helm" what if the pilot was a hermaphrodite?

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection and Ignition: where's the catc
Why don't you check out electroair: http://www.electroair.net/experimental_ignition_kits.html Spencer Suderman swears by it, and flew his Pitts to FL220 with the electroair ignition. If you go dual, you must have another battery installed etc. You keep one mag for redundancy. Check out the article h...

Re: Wingsuit Pilot Narrowly Escapes Collision with Gondola
So, instead of posting the YouTube video, you post a link to your site with advertising, which has a link to the YouTube video inside a thread on your board. Uh-huh. Well, anyways, for those that are impatient such as I, fast forward to 10 minutes in to see the guy nearly nail a gondola.
