I was getting checked-out by a fresh class IV a few years ago in Gimli, and she had these nifty cheat-sheets on her kneeboard that had a lesson outline. They looked to be commercially published. Anyone know what they might be and where they are sold?

There is a speed which will achieve minimum sink, and yet another to achieve best glide (best L/D ratio). The best L/D speed changes with weight. Racing sailplanes, I'd want a lot of water ballast in the wings to make my craft heavier. It won't change the glide ratio, but it will change the speed at...

I'm a gliding instructor and I've sat on these selection boards before. I don't think it would hurt things for the gliding application. It will sure give him the edge on the course! As long as he doesn't have a licence, it goes more towards a strong interest demonstrated in aviation. However, it may...

Polarized- Good? Bad? Anyone have a problem with polarized lenses? I heard some dribble about the instrument faces being polarized and not being able to see the bloody things. Also, a friend of mine, Matt R. (if you are out there email me!) said his Oakley's were "specially polarized" for flying. W...

I love Citabria's, especially the 7KCAB. This one is a 7ECA I assume? Having flown all 3 types, Citabria is my favorite by far. Right hand on the stick and left hand on the throttle. Going from tricycle gear to tailwheel, you will be lazy on the ground, learning from the beginning in a tailwheel you...

I didn't do the aerocourse, but instead bought the question book. It was pretty much word-for-word like the real exam. I recall questions about weather radar and stormscope so make sure you are up-to-speed on that! There was also a question regarding a "Minimim Fuel Emergency" asking what you are su...

They own the Shell at GP and a few pilots got-in working the ramp as fuellers for a while. I know a guy who just was put into the right seat of the JS after fuelling for 1yr+ shortly after that post for the pilot job. He seems pretty happy. SB seems to be a pretty decent place. I wouldn't say NO. Su...

How much did you pay for them? Heck, I make my own flash cards for dirt cheap. They work really good for me. How do people retain information? Repetition is great for committing stuff to long term memory and flash cards do the trick for me, especially when I have to make them up and research the ans...

good question
Working here as a flight instructor and charter pilot, the CARs part 7 limitations apparently do apply to me. I think a lot a people do instruction as a stepping stone to build time, so it's kind of nice not to have a cap on your flight duty time. I see some fellow instructors that work 18+ hour day...
