Unsubstantiated rumours for 2018 include: AC hiring 30 a month indefinitely Westjet will begin training for the 787, and need to fill 200 seats Minimum 50% flow to Westjet from Encore would mean 100 OTS to Westjet mainline Encore to continue minimum one class of 12 per month Wasaya and Pasco to cont...

Re: CRA Rules and Airline Benefits
The "attack on those that can least afford it" was directed at the country's 2 million retail workers and fast food restaurant workers who all predominantly work for minimum wage, and who would be forced to consider their half price Big Mac's and half price Christmas sweaters as taxable benefits, an...

Re: Cost of commuting
The costs of commuting extend beyond the airfare, and even further beyond the "financial". You'll need a crash pad, or plan on paying for hotel rooms. Most commuters have lounge cards, but not all airports have lounges. Rental cars are sometimes involved depending on your situation. But the real hid...

Re: PML between Express Carriers
DEFINITION of 'Cost Per Available Seat Mile - CASM' A common unit of measurement used to compare the efficiency of various airlines. It is obtained by dividing the operating costs of an airline by available seat miles (ASM). Generally, the lower the CASM, the more profitable and efficient the airline.

True. But if you get fired from Encore, you lose your job at a tier 1 airline.Jimmy2 wrote:Encore is a Tier 2 airline.

Re: Encore take home pay?
Not sure why we're so secretive about these pay rates Might have something to do with the contracts we sign that prohibit us from disclosing contractual information about the pay at the companies we work for. It's not like you're giving up the colonel's secret recipe, but do you really want to risk...

Re: Direct to mainline WestJet
How long has Encore been saying the goal is 100%? You might see 100% flow if WJ is only hiring enough to cover off retirements, hint not a lot of those in the near future, imho Encore has been saying the goal is 100% flow since it's inception. And I think the fact that they maintained flow in 2016 ...

Re: Thinking about stepping away from the game for a bit
If you can afford it, take the time off and spend those precious years with your wife and kids. Posters worrying about a couple years of seniority over the course of a 30+ year career obviously don't have families of their own. With your time, you won't have any issues picking up where you left off.

Re: Direct to mainline WestJet
I really don't think they will do 100% flow through from Encore...the training costs will be too high re-training a Q guy to a 737...and based on movement, that's a lot of training for just one guy and a lot of money from Westjet's pocket.. So it's cheaper to train a guy off the street than it is t...

Re: Northern Air Carriers Feeling the Pinch.
You also have to look at the long range forecast FOD. How long will $90K feel like a jackpot for you? $90K is pretty close to the most you will ever make in the 703 world. Don't get me wrong, $90K is a solid chunk of change, especially when you are single. But if a family and kids are in your future...

Go to Pasco, jump into the right seat of a 1900, do a year, slide into the left seat, and Bob's your uncle from there. As for the bent wing, I wouldn't offer it up, but if asked, then tell the truth and make sure you learned lots of good lessons from it.

A sign of the times mixed with challenging pre-requisites is my take on this GeoDoc. It's bottom of the barrel time for most operators right now as far as hiring and upgrading goes. Now add the pre-requisite of an experienced float driver with IFR experience to boot. Tough ask. But man, if I was you...

Re: Union drives reignite at WestJet
Just look at the lost WJ flights that have been taken over by Encore. I will use YEG as a simple example. YEG -YQU,YEG -YYC, YEG-YMM, YEG-YXE, YEG-YQX, YEG-YLW...all q400. Cheers. I'm curious, we're all these routes half full 737's, and putting the Q on them made better business sense for WJ? Or ar...
