Re: Promissory notes - a bond with a different name
I should clarify, my existing PPC is right seat. I have the requirements to move left but there are no openings yet. The ride, whether it is internal or Simuflight will be a left seat ride. The ride might very well come before the next opening. That being considered, I'll be signing a left seat bond...

Promissory notes - a bond with a different name
I have a PPC coming due in the summer time. The company I am at is looking at different options for training. The company I am at uses a promissory note system so no cash exchanged - just an agreement to stay for two years. I don't see this as an issue, I'm likely to stay. I have a PPC from a previo...

First and foremost, you should enjoy going to post secondary schooling. It's not all about the diploma hanging on the wall of the I love me room. Go check out all three schools if you can. Talk to people currently in those programs. Past grads may wear rose coloured glasses. As other posters mention...

I always thought that night flying was pretty good panty remover. Nothing better than circling around the giant phallus in downtown Toronto with the city light up in the background.

Just watched the show. Anyone else think the trailers at the airport was a brilliant idea? Do any of the commuters at Canadian airlines do this?

+2 on the Cherokee. Bought one a few years ago. Good plane. Simple, roomy (for a light single), easy to fly and not much in the way of maintenance. Insurance was very reasonable but goes way up with retractable, constant speed etc.

What are you looking for specifically? I have a Flightsafety manual but I think it's pretty much the same as what is available on smartcockpit.
PM me if you want.

Can't say I know him but this could be a whole other topic for those of us who remember days before Avcanada and the whole internet.

Molson King Air Captain
Just wondering if anyone out there has first hand knowledge of these guys. I seem to remember a few job postings for them in the last 6 months. One for a captain and FO not that long ago and also a Chief Pilot...?

Re: PA31 Bond
PCC's are transferrable between companies. Typically they will not be added to your license as it's not a rating but if you can provide all of your training records etc. you can bring a PCC with you to a new company.

He taught the Aerocourse ATPL in Calgary didn't he? If so, I remember him as a very pleasant and personable individual. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I am sure he will be missed by many.

I'm also very interested in getting some information about Canadian North. Love flying in the north so any information from people in the know would be appreciated! I'm sure I can find info on pay and schedules. I'd like to know what the upgrade potential is for someone joining the company as a Dash...

Re: Canadian North
Let me ask a more direct question. How long would someone be parked in the right seat, how long would it take someone to get upgraded to Captain on the Dash? Are upgrades based on seniority or something else?
What about schedules?

I am surprised to hear that they are hiring again. I thought they just laid a bunch of guys off in the fall time.
Does anyone know how many Dash-8 FO's they are hiring? How long would it take someone to upgrade to Captain and what is that based on at Canadian North?

ATPL Requirements
The time requirements as I see them listed are 1500 hours TT of which 900 must be in an airplane (if applying for airplane). Can you use time in helicopters/gliders/airships (not that I have time in all of those) at 100%. I seem to remember an old rule that stated that you could use only 10% of that...

Plane is sitting in the hanger being equipped with medical equipment. Still waiting for TC approval.
