I hate to break up an entertaining fight but Charlie said: the useless tits at COPA have made no progress whatsoever This may surprise you, but we are in complete agreement on your appraisal of the utility of COPA. They do not represent the interests of myself or any other pilot that I know of. I m...

For some reason the message isn't clear that Nav Canada is not an arm of a specific Government Department aka Transport Canada nor is it a Crown Corporation with subsidies. Like Air Canada et al, it (NC) is a service provider and again like Air Canada it has a right and a duty to charge for its serv...

I am flying to NL within the next few weeks and my ticket has a Nav Can surcharge. Fair enough as it is normal business practice to pass on charges to the users of the service but can somebody explain to me why any portion of this surcharge by Air Canada, WestJet, JAZZ, and Canjet et al should go to...

For those who may be interested DECISION ALTITUDE (DA) . The DA applies to approach procedures where the pilot is provided with glidepath deviation information; e.g., ILS, MLS,LVP, LNAV/VNAV, Baro VNAV, or PAR. The DA is the barometric altitude, specified in feet above MSL, at which a missed approac...

I think I recall an incident similar to that one but it was a different company. Again, this can happen to anybody. No company is excluded from mishaps. . Canadian Airlines International(CAI) had an incident in CYHZ on approach to 06 a few years back. http://www.tsb.gc.ca/en/reports/air/1996/a96a00...

For publication( CAP Enroute Charts ,JEPP, AC and database producers etc) and operational( ATC,FSS) ICAO assigns idents for airports not IATA. Minor point I know but Aeronautical Information was my former life.YULdude wrote:NPS,
I think IATA uses 3 letter idents, so YEG could also be correct...

Wrong airport code. It's YEG for Edmonton International Airport, and LAX for Los Angeles. Actually it is CYEG as the official ICAO ident........ but I know all airlines use the navaid(YEG) identifier on boarding pass, baggage clains etc.. But as you know, ya gotta use CYEG to load up a STAR(RNAV) an...

Just a couple of items. First of all, I know nothing about the WJ ESP or the RRSP contributions made on their employees behalf so I will not pass judgment. However, it would be interesting to hear what the “health and benefits” plan they (WJ) and others airlines (outside of mainline Air Canada) have...

Here is my retired 55 yr old two cent view(and it may be worth less that that). If you are young, single blast off to Jazz. It will be an experience that you may never get again. However if you have a partner with dependants and you are in the late 20's, early 30's sit down with he or she and discus...

Hey, I am endorsed on a pigboat aka PBY-5A or Canso or the official designation on my ATPL CV-14. Can I come and to throw in a sweetner since I am a designated Inst...

I am from the Maritimes and continue to live here, CanJet is a good little airline that provides an excellent service. Hopefully WJ will not bully ...
