I called Jetport this morning and they are allowing people to park on their ramp for the weekend for $50. It's the same price if it's just for one of the days. If you want to park there, you need to call ahead though.
At that rate, I think I'll drive...

ATPL Application process tips
Today I submitted my application for the ATPL and while I was preparing my paperwork I tried to find information about the application process, but there is very little out there. So, I wanted to write this so anyone else that is going through the application process can use this information however...

Re: Eliminating prop blur on GoPro HD cameras
I ended up going with the GoPro Hero 2. I'm very happy with it so far, except the prop lines. I'm going to try the film as that seems to work across the board, no matter which company's camera it is. This video is what sold me on the GoPro. Marketing at it's finest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO...

Eliminating prop blur on GoPro HD cameras
I'm looking at buying either a Drift, GoPro on NFlightCam. I like the GoPro the most, but I'm wondering what people have done to eliminate the prop lines that you get from the digital shutters (like on a smartphone)? There are products that you can buy that eliminate it, like a new case but that is ...

Re: Float pilot and new boat regs?
I'm resurrecting this old thread because I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. We just bought a Husky on amphibs and we were wondering if (in Ontario) you require a Pleasure Card Operator's Card to operate a float plane on the water? From what I've read here and on the department of j...

I agree, it would be nice to have this in electronic form. There is a new FTGU out so does anybody know whether the publisher is going to come out with an e-book format too?

I wrote the AIRAT exam last week. Half of it was theory of flight, the other half learning factors, other stuff from the FIG, licensing, flight test limitations. Hope that helps

Converting Night Ratings from Helicopter to Aeroplane
I feel bad for having to come to Avcanada for this, but I've been trying to find this in the CARs and haven't had any luck so far. Can anyone tell me or point me to CARs reference on what the requirements are to convert a Helicopter night rating to an Aeroplane night rating?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I hope Transport doesn't find out about that. If past

C-GFBR is still based at Oshawa and was flown quite recently. Last weekend it flew up to Attawapiskat to deliver supplies to the First Nations community. It still flies about once a month.

The one at Oshawa flew last about a year ago on a ferry permit. From what I've heard, it is for sale too.

Re: No more than 4 planes in the circuit
For some reason, Oshawa (CYOO) has a policy that they don't allow more than 12 in the circuit at a time! I can't remember having more than 8, EVER. It is part of the noise abatement policy.

Re: Pstarophobia!
I've had students recently that have been freaking out over the PSTAR. At first it sounds daunting, that you MUST get 90% or more on the exam. I try to explain to them that there's lots of resources to help you study, we give you the questions beforehand. When they look back on it after completing t...

Re: FSS and mandatory frequency = just dangerous
Until recently, I have always thought that the system at Muskoka as worked well enough. I think that people working in Timmins who have to try and figure out what's going on in Muskoka, by only using the VDF steer radio signals (I'm sure there's a more technical name for it :? ) and position reports...
