Re: Good Schedule vs Good Pay
The older I get the more I want the time off. 10 or 15 years ago I would have taken 17 days a month. Heck right now 17 days is not that bad. Still 13 or 14 off a month. Ask the Encore guys working 22!

Re: PPC training scenario?
waveride, to provide training you would need to meet the qualifications as spelled out in your companies COM. Check the training section and it will be clear. Something like Captain with a 100hrs on type or what ever the specification is. That is it, all other items are moot. The COM should be at mi...

Love my cut above shirts. Will order from them again. I did have one with a funky collar and a small mark on it, sent back no problem. As for colour? Find mine nice and white. As for care, what do you all recommend for washing? I find the following keeps them good: Detergent, Borax and Bleach in hot...

Re: Aerocourse ATPL and Taxes
Though if your company where to require you to take the course at your own expense and issue you a T2202 I think you could write it off as a work expense the same way you would write off say a new head set or a medical.

I really like http://www.acutaboveuniforms.com They have three cuts and some nice features including a sweat absorbing band at the neck to prevent ring around the collar, velcro pockets (not cheesy like you think) and a reenforced strip with eyelets for your wings. Though shipping can be a bit much ...

You can however take credit for the NDB or DME in some cases. COM 3.15.9 in the AIM. I don't have a YHM apprpach plate handy so I can't say if you can take credit or not in this case.

Nope never do it. As a training captain, all engine failures are above 1500' AGL in the aircraft. We don't want to die.

They typically go to the metro's and then on to the king air flying medivac and if all goes well and a seat opens up they may fly in the citation. I did my PPL at SIFC and while their aircraft were not very nice cosmetically at the time I did feel that for the most part they were very well maintain...

Re: Aircraft noise tied to higher heart disease risk
I bet if you took into account socioeconomic information the study would wither away and die. Houses near airports tend to be cheaper. People lower down on the economic scale eat less healthy due to cost. You have more heart attacks. I am sure it is all the planes fault. Junk science at its finest. ...

I will also add keep a good lookout for FOD and things like runway lights. The edges are usually not in as good shape as the center. Be aware of the neon sticks that they use to mark edge lights for the plow in the snow at some places. High enough to catch something like a cherokee. Good airmanship ...

Well back in the day many airlines had employee flying clubs. Pacific Flying Club out of ZBB began it's life as the Canadian Pacific's Employees Flying Club. Maybe it is time for that sort of organization to exist again?

You are correct canoehead. A very impressive for the 1100+ built and still being built. However the -200 series is begining to see the end of its life and at least one from Singapore has been scrapped. I wonder if any other airframe has had that sort of safety record. Very impressive machine.

In slow flight your pitch angle controls airspeed and your power setting controls climb/descent rate.

When in doubt it is usually the longest answer. In fact I bet if you went through a TC exam and chose just the longest answer you would get well over 50%!
RTFQ2... read the F$%^& question twice. Don't get slipped up on the english/french exam portion.
