I'd be willing to bet that this wasn't an issue, and you might think twice about saying that on a public forum, especially one with many female aviators reading and contributing

Re: I wonder how difficult it will be for widow.
Nice job Widow. You are a truly impressive woman. I'm more of a lurker here than a poster, and I've been reading your stuff since the early days. It sure is interesting to see how you've gone from 'timidly' asking questions here to making many of us ask some deep questions of our own and ourselves. ...

Re: Can you legally continue the flight ...
There would not be an MEL for this aircraft.
First leg was legal. Subsequent legs... depends upon your interpretation of the CAR's. Was it equipped with an airspeed indicator? Yes.
Kinda like the old landing light at night with pax on board routine. Do you have to use it? Nope.

http://blogs.wsj.com/middleseat/2009/02/18/life-and-death-in-the-sky-two-extremes-of-basic-airmanship/ I'd say that after reading the article referred to in the link (and posted above), it seems like the WSJ has some of their $%^T together. I actually didn't cringe when reading it. Other news outlet...

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
i can't believe that there are pilots out there that think it is a good idea to argue the fact that a pilot should be allowed to smoke dope when they aren't on duty here is why you shouldn't: 1. it is illegal to smoke dope 2. it is illegal to operate an aircraft while you are UNFIT and you CANNOT g...

From http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/02/17/national/main4805800.shtml here is summary of the crew's flight experience. ------------- Capt. Marvin D. Renslow finished training on a Dash 8 just two months ago, reports the Buffalo News. He had amassed 110 hours in the turboprop's cockpit, logging ...

Re: Continental Flt 3407 Crash at Buffalo/Niagra Intr'nal
So, now I have an open question to all the Q400 drivers on this forum, and please, no responses from anybody that doesnt' have at least one dash-8 variant listed on thier license. What's that airplane gonna do in the following conditions. You blasted off seats full, fuel for a 1 hour trip with an a...

Re: Ground turboprop aircraft, expert says
Something is just not right. Come on, don't believe the former NTSB chair would suggest grounding all turboprop aircraft. If I was a betting man, I'd chalk this up to the usual poor reporting courtesy of The Star. They only direct quote from Hall is: " 'I think the prudent thing to do ... is ground...

Re: Ground turboprop aircraft, expert says
http://www.hallassoc.net/index.htm Here's the link to Mr. Hall's website. I was looking to see if there were any other business links the man has (ie: what's his motive & who's paying him off to say this drivel etc.). I don't know why he would be so reckless to release such a statement, except that ...

Mr. Hall is on crack.

Now, I think he's lost his marbles.

Re: Continental Flt 3407 Crash at Buffalo/Niagra Intr'nal
I'm so sick of all the speculation and the experts that have come out of the woodwork. All for what? To get everybody riled up? To get their own 15 minutes of face time? I'm not at all impressed with the NTSB on this one. Feeding the media little bits and pieces of CVR/FDR information... for what? S...

Re: Living in YXU, lets hear about it.
KAG, You live in Midland and wanna move to London? No disrespect for the London folk here, but I think you're looking the wrong way. I live just south of you (near Horseshoe Valley) and I do the drive to YYZ in about 1+10 easily. I have a gorgeous new home on acreage for under $400K. I'll take the d...

Re: Sullenburger - "hero" response in 60 Minutes interview
Sullenburger, Piche and the one who landed that DC-10 - forget his name - all of whom brought a crippled plane and people walked away - deserve our hats off - no matter the circumstances. That is what pilots are trained for - handling emergencies. Any trained monkey can operate an aircraft NORMALLY...

Re: Airport Security discussion
Hey guys (and mods), do you really think it's a good idea to be talking about these specific security gaps here on a public forum? We're giving potential bad guys quite a lot of pointers and intel. I'm not ragging on anyone or finger pointing, I'm just asking everyone to think about what someone wi...

Re: Sullenburger - "hero" response in 60 Minutes interview
Just watched the 60 Minutes episode online. I think it was a pretty well put together interview. Sully is obviously a amazing skipper, and his crew was there to back him up. It would be interesting to hear more from the F/O's perspective too, although in this case, CBS knows that 'Sully' is bringing...

Re: Airport Security discussion
Folks, the problem is the consistency (or rather, the lack of it). Each airport is able to set their own desired level of security. For example, I can go to work from YYZ T1 domestic, do the fingerprint scan, and carry whatever I want in my bags into the secure area. I fly over to YXU (home of the '...

Re: Airport Security discussion
Absolutely in no way do you have to show any 'security' agent your license. I'd throw a $#%^-fit if I was asked that. They'd have to get me a supervisor with the documentation showing me where it says they must see your license. The dumb part of it all is that the same person likely watched you walk...

Any of the machines with new paint look pretty sharp. Some of them are horribly dirty, both in and out. I'd be more interested in knowing who does the best paint job (on the DH8 at least). IE who's paint stands up better, YQA or Bar River etc... Some of them look like they just went through atmosphe...
