Re: Pilot Shortage / Minimums /disconnect

To the OP Coppertop401: I agree. I think there is an unwillingness of the 703/704 operators to grasp the reality of the current job market. I don't see how they can expect to compete with regionals for the same or less money, for more/the same amount of work. Also the regionals can lead to that cush...

Climb / Descent Phraseology

I seem to remember that TC or NAV Can put out a publication or circular on not using the word "for" when reporting in a climb or descent.

Don't say this: "Call-sign XXX, 3-3-0 for 3-6-0"

Say this: "Call-sign, 3-3-0 climbing 3-6-0"

Does anyone recall this? Reference?

Re: Encore contract negotiations

True. Except Jazz and Sky pilots will most likely end up at AC, Not WJ. AC where pay and progression are assured. WJ where you get to aspire to seat right seat forever. How long is it going to take someone to reach top payscale at mainline? Or you could flow to Swoop I guess. Sounds really fun over...

Re: One list

To preface this, I have no horse in this race. I don't work for WestJet or Encore, or have even the slightest desire to work for an airline. With that being said take the following piece of advice for what you paid for it: Don't be bitter, don't go out of your way to hurt others. Stop people from g...

The newest job adds (May 2nd) are light on details. The linked page isn't much better.

Has anyone been in touch with them? Any word on WAWCON?

Re: Temp corrections for "Extreme cold"

Then why differentiate what to do in extreme cold weather at all? Quote from newest AIP below. It’s in a “blue section” which I believe highlights a change. In conditions of extreme cold weather, pilots should add the values derived from the Altitude Correction Chart to the published altitudes, incl...

Temp corrections for "Extreme cold"

Looking through the latest AIP at temp correction for IAP (RAC 9.17.1) and the term "Extreme cold weather" is used as the caveat to temp correct the min altitudes plus MSA and Arc altitudes. "Extreme cold weather" is not defined in the AIP. I seem to remember using -30c as the point at which temp co...

Grooming still though, it's a first contract.
Ha ha ha! April fool's day was the 1st... A 50% bump would have Encore making more than Mainline! Maybe a 50 cent / hr bump.

Re: Pilot shortage State side

If they run out of pilots it'll be interesting to see if they try to use the special talent style visa to get people in. I don't think this will happen any time soon. If you compare what the US regionals have on offer compared to the Canadian operators it seems they are taking a pilot shortage a lit...

Pilot shortage State side

Once someone figures out the whole immigration thing, I think US companies will wipe out most of the Canadian industry. Here's a link to Mesa Airlines (United / American tier 2 operator). Highlights, up to $50k in joining bonuses, Upgrade in 14-22 months, $36USD/hr to start, defined career path, jet...

Pasco is looking for Captains and FOs. They were offering bonuses in the last version of the job add but not this one. CMA also seem to be looking for Captains and FOs for all of their machines. Looks like the pilot shortage is working its way into the smaller operators as AC hires 500/yr! I imagine...
