Re: on call vs. on reserve ....definition please

Hmmmmm, I don't think "on call" is as grey an area as you may think. It was stated above that the two are almost identical except that "on call" has the pilot reporting in less than an hour. That is the problem, almost the same is not the same. From a purely legal stance, the two are different and ...

Re: on call vs. on reserve ....definition please

I think the biggest problem is the difference between on-call and reserve - where reserve has specific requirements set forth wrto defined rest, yet on-call, other then a definition has no other reference or guideline. Operators tend to interperate this as "If on-call were to be limited like reserve...

FYI Bi-annual is every two years, likely you meant semiannual (half yearly).

Re: YYZ ATC & the G8/20...FLAWLESS!!!

So what will happen if you try and take off from YYZ without the G20 clearance? Will they let you go and violate you, or just deny you a clearance? Who has to get the clearance?

How does this work as a duty day then? i.e. can you be on call 24/7 and your duty day starts from check-in or is there a limit that combines on call time plus duty day?

Re: Strong x-wind? declare an emergency.

For the record, my issue isn't with the crew declaring an emergency and requesting another runway. My issue is what happened after the fact and the way the crew decided to get themselves to the other runway. Why would you (or any of you) have any "issue" with this? Were any of you there? Does it im...

Re: Strong x-wind? declare an emergency.

His intention was never to declare an emergency until his was given no option in his judgment. "Give me 33L or I will declare an emergency" . And apparently repeated 3 times! The controller had no time. The conversation was too quick. I suspect that if the pilot had said unable 22 request 33L the s...

Re: Strong x-wind? declare an emergency.

Furthermore this PIC saw a sequence of events about to unfold (High x-wind, low fuel ) that could be avoided. Don't let your judgment be dictated if you know you are right. I know his co-pilot was with him 100% or they would have made an attempt at 22. ! I haven't seen or heard anything about low f...
