Still thinking the 162 layoffs are more for optics for laying off other employee groups than any real savings.

Re: Layoffs
I agree this outcome is quite reasonable for everyone, however 55 hour block month for flat payers isn't a lot of money. factor in commuting and I suspect EI would be a much better option for many pilots at AC. Are you sure? Year 1 flat pay-rate effective April 2, 2020. $61.26x55hr = $3369.30. Year...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
1-2 or a handful quitting they don’t really care. AC has the Jazz puppy mill for an endless supply. Our mistake was signing the 10 years deal at 86% approval, buyers remorse.

I believe there were talks of Jazz ALPA filing a grievance for AC not obligating.
Haven’t heard of any specific deals with Sky Regional or now de-funked Georgian.

Re: Reason for so much Pilot hiring
1. Retirements, approx 100-125/year 2. Up gauge of traditionally regional routes (yqm, yqt, yqb, ydf, yfc, yqy, bna) 3. New routes to Australia and New Zealand. Additional Rouge seasonal routes to Europe and South America. 4 ex-Singapore and Tap 330s were bought to free up the 787 for the longer seg...

Re: Westjet ad.
Hi To again, simply quote before you start down the slag path: “It's only gonna get worse with flow being reduced and all the folk leaving for AC” If it’s spin then where are the numbers from Encore? If you can’t post facts then I dare say the pot is calling the kettle black with reference to spin?...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Use to take 10 years to FO wide body. Crazy!!!! Making 50 grand in the right seat , I think AC pilots should not look any other airline crew in the eyes as we walk by in the terminal. We suck...... I'm a bit surprised foreign carriers aren't actively trying to poach these WB FO new hires after they...

Re: Interim bid out
If Air Canada wants to fix its crewing problem (and help the profession in the process), all it is has to do is to cancel the 4 year probationary pay. How can one be on probation for 4 long years?! Not even at NASA!! You are confusing your facts. It is a 4 years flat pay system which matches WJ pay...

Re: Swoop pay
Maybe things will change if the US starts recruiting Canadian Pilots, then AC and WJ will have to increase the salaries. AC already has a pretty decent salary on the 737, roughly $230k a year. Problem is those willing to do it for $110k a year. Knock on AC contract as you wish, it’s still far super...

And a Swoop pilot will do it for half the amount.

Quite the experience level in the last ground school, it’s like we’ve got a Westjet/Encore PIL agreement.

Re: Time for Transat pilot future poll
The top scale Transat A330 captain has a lower pay rate than a A320 captain at AC. Essentially Transat Seniority #1 currently makes less on paper than a seniority number 3200ish that holds a A320 captain position at AC. Let that sink in. The Transat pilots have landed a windfall of a lifetime. Even...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
MCAS is not even programmed in the 737 Max sim, the closest thing it can replicate is a stabilizer trim run-away.
