Re: Westjet CYHZ
On a 737NG there is a mechanical squat switch on the right landing gear scissors. A bowden cable runs up the gear leg into the wheel well and terminates at a hydraulic valve with some electrical switches. Once this cable pulls the valve open, hydraulics can deploy the inner speed brakes on top of th...

Re: Putting my own fabric on my airplane without experience
I have been working on these planes for 30 years now. More than 50% of the Aeronca/Champion/Citabria planes that I have inspected for the spar AD, at least 1 of the 4 spars of them had a crack.

It not really an airline's fault when a ground vehicle drives into fuselage and causes a large dent/gouge in skin. If you look at news videos you can see KF tinbashers fitting a sizable chunk of aluminum.

Re: ONEX plans
I heard that ONEX was going to pay $36/share before the MAX deal. So Boeing owes us shareholders $5/share!!!! One of the directors at WJ believes that ONEX didn't want to buy us to keep us the second largest airline in Canada, but wants to make it number one?? They defiantly have the funds to do it.

Just debating if I should wait to sell at the $31.00 buy out, or sell it now for $30.70. I would lose about 3k.

What are the chances that the deal will not go through??? That peckerwood with nice hair in Ottawa might not allow it so he can screw the west even more?

It will be spun that it is AC's fault, they should have know about the turbulence! Just like fog and thunderstorms are the airlines fault also. Mankind is getting stupider at an alarming rate.

Re: 787 Pilots
The Captains I dealt with working on the WJ 67's generally had employee numbers 500 and below. That means they have been with company since the beginning, or very close (20-23 years). Most have moved on to the 87 now.

I just read the Type Data Sheet for the C-120/140 and there is no mention of radio equipment. The radios in 1946 were huge tube filled things with only a few channels. Any modern radio would be 100 times better than a radio that the aircraft would have came with in 1946.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
How is it possible to be a senior Captain at 28? How can you get 8000 hours and be 28? Did he start flying at 10 years old, or were many of his hours made up?

Did anyone read the report on the Lion Air crash? It states that the same aircraft had issues with sensors, most likely the AOA gauge, in the days prior to the fateful flight. Prior crews turned the trim switch off and had a non-eventful flight. My question is, why was this plane allowed to fly with...

About a month ago, none of the blue and teal 37's had GPS in the morning at YEG. Many MEL's were applied to headstarts. I assume our neighbors had similar GPS issues?? They thought maybe a truck in Nisku had a jammer?

Where are you currently located? I have a small maintenance facility slightly east of Edmonton and always need some help in the busy spring and summer maintaining light aircraft, gliders and helicopters.

Being an accomplished glider pilot seemed to help Capt Pearson land the 67 back in 1983. That was the only time in the 67 history where the RAT was deployed.

Re: 1st WestJet 787 off the Production Line
When I do the line and transit check on the 67, I see many of the captains have employee numbers around 500 or lower. And when I ask how they enjoy flying it, the response is unanimous that they all LOVE flying the 67 compared to the NG.
