Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes
The engine may have a 10'000 hour tbo but I highly doubt the battery will last a fraction of that especially if it's getting recharged multiple times a day. The aircrafts range will slowly shorten as the battery's ability to hold a charge degrades. I don't know why alcohol isn't being explored as an...

Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes
I'm not naysaying, I personally think alternative fuels are the future though, but having a glitzy website and bolting a propeller to a large electric motor on a test bench is hardly an accomplishment. Large electric motors are nothing new, and producing one to propel an aircraft is the easy part, t...

Thanks, if I log in with my username it will let me apply again but if I "view profile" it says "not eligible for re-application", guess I just wait

Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes
I imagine they will have that STC "within months"
This Magnix and Mr. McDougall seem pretty nonchalant about the battery issue and the magnitude of what they are going to do.

Re: There will probably be damage from striking a large bird
We saw a large bird, heard a loud bang, and felt some yaw, no big deal, let's continue on to that 3rd world country on a little island.

Re: Commuting by air to my flying job
Owning a plane is great fun but it's expensive, I imagine a c-150 is as about as cheap as you can get, even more so if you put it in the owner maintenance category. I own a 210 and it's mind boggling how much some things are for it. The insurance and fuel are peanuts compared to the other stuff. The...

Thanks, I thought that was only if you failed it, I passed it a year ago, now I got this message saying I have to wait, that's why I'm confused I guess. Thanks for replying

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
Everybody keeps thinking everything happened all at once and the crew was overwhelmed….that is not the case. The airspeed disagree and stick shaker came on at rotation. They were known, actioned and dealt with. It wasn't until about 2000 feet when the flaps came up that they got the nose down input...

What does DNMF NTL mean on application?
Does anyone know what DNMF NTL means? I passed the "wonderlic" test a year ago and even after a year it still wouldn't let me re apply, said I had already applied for this job, now a year and 4 months later it says DNMF NTL, "not eligible for re-application within 18 months. 18 months of what? Appli...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
No I am not a Hollywood screenwriter, but I do have a bit of a background in aircraft certification flight testing. Re: Quantas Flight 32 that you alluded to. The crew were very skilled at handling the multiple issues simultaneously, most of which they had received no training in. But they were als...

Re: KD Air not flying
Why do people do this? I see it all the time, they buy a company that is has run like clock work for years, a company that was fine tuned by the previous owner from their experience. The new owners think they can make it better and or bigger and make all these changes right away then they wonder why...

That's the problem with these joined hangars, you never know what your neighbor is screwing with. I'm always carefull to make sure I unplug everything etc when I leave, I try to be conscious of others "pride and joys"

Re: Westwind
From reading so many of these posts, I can't believe people would risk their lives rather than tell the boss --- perhaps politely -- to F--- off --- when clearly called for. I have in the past in (non flying) jobs, for much, much lower stakes than my own life. You're the captain. You decide. Not th...

That's like not going to your doctor any more because your insurance company wants you to get "Driver's Medical" when you turn 80.

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check
I got my pilots licence and 2 commercial flying jobs with a criminal record. It was a dangerous driving charge from when I was 19, no one hurt just me being a stupid 19 year old. A fine and a license suspension was all I got. Completely forgot I had it until it came up when I applied for my 3rd flyi...

MAG Aerospace
Hi, does anyone know what MAG Aerospace pays their fire detection Skymaster pilots and their birddog Aero commander pilots? I noticed their ad here on Av Canada and was curious if anyone had any info on what they may be like to work for? Thank you.

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check
I really don't see the big deal here. If you don't have anything to hide, what's the problem? And yes, I have had background checks done. And YES, I have had to go for secondary screening, due to the fact I apparently share the same birthdate as one of those scum. You pretty much answered your own ...

Probably some transport Canada dufus was looking at his light display and decided to flex his might, being already grumpy that his wife dragged him out of the house to look at xmas lights.
