Re: Canadian North Reductions

I'm with PJ. Don't take it wrong, I never like to see guys laid off. But what has been happening in the oils sands was not sustainable even at high oil prices. Poor governance tilted everything in our economy toward a boom never ending at all cost and now it's been pissed away... The economy will ad...

Re: Air Canada Pool

I have to question your assertion that ACPA is indifferent or was dragged into this - especially after reading your MEC's glowing assessment of the Pilot Mobility Agreement. Your MEC paints it as nothing but a win-win for your group and for your company. From a Jazz pilot's perspective the PMA at l...

Re: Air Canada Pool

This doesn't affect me, but I hate to see guys that have been hanging in there passed over because some deal signed between a bunch of suits. Some of those suits are pilot suits. While ALPA has NOT been involved in negotiating the PMA with Air Canada and/or Jazz, ACPA has been, and is involved in t...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Heard from a management type last week, maybe 2 more courses in 2015. New 2015 seniority list is out too... 40 whole numbers... Seems to match that forecast for 2 courses. AC is bringing on 10 321's this spring and not losing the embraers until the fall. I thought we were getting 5 321s? Or was it 5...

Re: Carson Air (metro)

4 months 4 months in and a big pay bump... Doubled? By 8 months in you'll be ahead of the guys money-wise, who will ride in the right seat for years at the other operators... By 2 years your bond will be up, 1500 hours MPIC, including +12500 PIC, airline seat is in sight... Heck you could go direct...

Re: Carson Air (metro)

Curious where your buddy was off the end and got fired? What were the conditions? Carson goes mostly into some long runways... He must have really pooched it. Again it's a shatty job. So is CMA and Pasco and Bearskin and Perimeter and Georgian and the rest... They all are. Is one marginally better t...

Yeah, if you can't stand up for yourself and say "no", you can kill yourself.

Scabby operators have been pushing pilots since long ago. Stick up for yourself, be a "Captain".

Re: Pay your medical fees

Yeah - the fee was for the Aviation Safety Letter and AIP updates.

I haven't paid it in years, and as I always seem to owe taxes they can't take it off my tax return. Heck, they've spent so much on postage at this point I think they may be in the red trying to collect even if I did pay it. Feck 'em.

Company can hire who they want. But the union controls the list and it says BOTL for new hires...

Don't think anyone cares where you came from, Jazz or otherwise... when you get here you're here.

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

Someone mentioned 777, so I assumed it was a triple... Similar decision making process on a 767 nonetheless... Gyv, not sure if that was directed at me but... I Didn't get my ire raised, just trying to put myself in those shoes and what they were thinking... Turn back, YFB is in your pocket and if t...

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

easy bud, I'm not criticizing the AC crew. Just the notion that landing in YFB in the winter constitutes an emergency for a 777. I'm not sure why your drawing parallels between ETOPS and electrical smoke but anyways enjoy the new year. Maybe emergency was a little harsh, but not by much. Middle of ...

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

But they didn't have smoke onboard. Wasn't any mention of smoke. Doesn't sound like any indications of a problem at all beyond a faint electrical scent somewhere. Doesn't sound like an immediate threat at all. There was an experienced crew on board capable to assess and response adequately, judging ...
