Re: VIDEO (aftermath): 2 YouTubers Wrecked their Airplane during OFF-Airport Landing
Seems like this thread is drifting away. @pilotDAR, I am fully aware of the Airworthiness Standards for certified Aircraft which @AuxBat is referring to. I think AuxBat is not aware that the Airworthiness Standards do not cover the experimental aircraft which was the case in context here. having a ...

Re: VIDEO (aftermath): 2 YouTubers Wrecked their Airplane during OFF-Airport Landing
Stall Warning not working is not a good/valid excuse for a pilot to stall and crash the airplane. Like you said, it was his responsibility to maintain airspeed. PLUS, not every GA airplane has a stall warning system. I don’t know if kitfox does or doesn’t. For the sake of discussion let’s say his a...

Re: Spins before solo?
Being able to recognize when you could be in trouble is as important if not more than being able to get out of it. Teaching spins at low level may help avoiding them in the first place. At the risk of being rude teaching spins at low level is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Not to mention bein...

Re: Spins before solo?
Pilot Dar.. I think you are missing the point. We are talking about pre solo here. The student is not going tobe flying more than 1000 agl after solo until they have more dual. What would be the point in teaching them that they should be high up to do this? Being able to recognize when you could be...

Old news. That was part of the Speech from the Throne. Once we knew the NDP supported the Speech, it was a done deal.Launchpad1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:28 am Looks like the CEWS is extended for sure until summer 2021:

Re: Spins before solo?
I have done many spins in my life, some of them aggravated (on purpose) for experimental flight testing. In an aircraft designed and certified to spin, recovering from a fully developed spin, even after being aggravated, is not particularly challenging. In fact, there are certification requirements ...

Re: Calculating time required with Mach and reported winds?
I am having trouble figuring out the calculation for this question; The following wind report relates to a WESTBOUND flight of a small business jet aircraft: 274045 How long would this aircraft take to cover a distance of 150 NM if it cruised at .83 Mach? a) 31 mins b) 25 mins c) 20 mins d) 17 mins...

Re: The personal log book thing.
Except that it’s not what the words say. Paragraph 1 defines when you need to maintain a log, paragraph 2 how to maintain that log (which includes logging each flight). Note that it does not specify log each flight “ for the purpose of para 1 ”. (2) A personal log that is maintained for the purpose...

Re: The personal log book thing.
As stated, that's not how I interpret the rule. Therein lies the rub. Our interpretations don't really matter. I've just pointed out that there may be advantages to having a full record of all your flights, for unforeseen circumstances in the future. You won't convince me those advantages don't exi...

lol This thread is so Canadian it makes my teeth hurt. Try living somewhere outside Canada for awhile where your apologetic white ass is very much a minority. Say, the Far or Middle East. South Asia. And you'll very quickly realize comments that trigger earnest pearl-clutching in Canada are NOTHING...

Re: VIDEO : Student Pilot Crashes the Cessna on touchdown (Nov 2019)
Once again. Please explain to me the reason that tens of thousands of people who really want to come to this country automatically get extra points in the hiring process in this country even though they haven't set foot in this country yet. At what point do they become victims of racism. The moment...

Re: The personal log book thing.
Each flight refers to each flight in the log. Not each flight you've flown. If you can document your recency, you've maintained the log as per 401/08 (1) (b) That’s an assumption you are making. The way it is written, you must log each flight. Isn't that an assumption too? You didn't answer my ques...

Re: The personal log book thing.
No, you need to log every flight needed to show recency. Nope. If you need to maintain a log (there are two reasons you would be required to maintain a log: show recency and apply for a license/permit/rating), you need to log every flight. Lets say I do a flight test with 6 landings in January. I d...

Re: The personal log book thing.
The total irony of it is that TC does not go by your log book if there is a question of currency or legality. If they consider you might be in violation they will not just take your log book information. They will ferret out your the journey logs, which there is no question, it's a legal document a...

Re: The personal log book thing.
You still need a logbook (as you are a holder of a license and need to show recency). According to the CARs, if you need a logbook, you need to log every flight. No, you need to log every flight needed to show recency. Nope. If you need to maintain a log (there are two reasons you would be required...
