Re: DOH merge.

What percentage of Transat pilots are currently at which bases? I'm curious where they will be likely bidding for in the future
I would say:
45% YUL
55% YYZ(of which more than 50% are waiting for a spot in YUL)
0.1% YVR

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

It would be minimal for everybody hired at AC pre 2016. Everybody after will have 500 people slide ahead. Many who had to bite the bullet and go make penny’s at express to get to ac. So they should just slide in? The people who quit express to go to transat come out ahead, the ones who left transat...

Re: Transat AT Inc Announces Preliminary Discussions Concerning a Potential Sale of the Corporation

Transat was not looking for a buyer and they don’t sell because of a critical financial situation. It looks like they got offers from X who believe it’s a good investment (financial and/or most probably strategic) and if they’re now willing to sell it’s certainly because the offer is pretty attracti...

I am surprised your SOP doesn’t require the AP engagement at high density traffic airports and for RNAV SID departures.

Re: 737 max

Raymond, I disagree with your "every turn thereafter resulted in a slip" comment. Boeing recommends that rudder is not used in normal flight as a properly working yaw damper will keep things coordinated with or without the autopilot on. You saved me some typing J31.... I'd also like to point out th...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?

I didn’t think Air Transat relied on financial success to remain competitive given how it’s an uplift for transat group which is in fact financially successful ... if Air Transat, the airline is financially profitable it’s a bonus, but not a requirement. Who knows... maybe it is the beginning of th...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?

Loosing money during the boom times doesn't bold well when we hit the next recession. FYI you will be competing with a much stronger airline financially called Westjet. The new B 787's will be competing with the TS NEO 321 LR's. What a scoop! I hope you don’t waste 200$/h to write on avcanada all t...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?

It was a wise move, on your part , in light of the continuing losses for the company. The stock hit a 52 week low today . 30+ years of ups and downs and TS is still kicking. The lifestyle and variety of flying keeps things interesting and our contract is not shabby. Theres a big push for hiri...

Re: Air Transat interview

Sim will take place in YUL - we had the A320 initials in Miami but the A320 sim will be operational at CAE YUL at the beginning of April. Air Transat wil pay your DH and hotels in YUL plus per diems during your training. If you don’t plan to DH or use the hotels; they will put the credits in a ´bank...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Except they won’t be making any money if they go bankrupt. Jazz is arguably more secure, plus one could make as much or more money at AC down the road. What makes you believe TS or SW would go bankrupt? So you stay at Jazz gaining less money only because you think it’s more secure? You won’t go too...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?

The hiring wave started almost 5 years ago and in my opinion it's gonna slow down in max 2 years (same at AC). We are close to a global financial crisis so when it's gonna happen; I suppose that hiring will stop for some time.
Upgrade: about 5 years at the moment.

Re: Canadian Pilot Unity

GGN guys got pfo'd at Jazz. We worked hard at our interviews and got in. BOTL is a fair deal. If you're not happy to have a job after you've lost yours then go to swg or air Tran. On a side note; going to Swg or TS would be a better move than Jazz. I did all them and I don’t miss Jazz at all ...pay...

Re: Why does anyone want to work at WestJet?

I fly for WJA so perhaps I see things with a teal hue. Can you explain how Sunwing or Transat is a better career move (as opposed to same but different). I have flown with multiple pilots from both, why did they make the leap to WJA if things were so good at their previous airline? Because at one p...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

If you upgrade after 2 years at both companies: Transat - 137/148/160/172/184 As of 2019: 137/146/154/163/171 (airbus fleet) If you upgrade after 3 years you go on year 2 payscale (146k if on airbus fleet) New collective agreement in 2020 Transat: 140% of maximum 7% contributions matched. Meaning 9...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

I mean AC has OT too, 1.5-2.5x depending, good per diems - esp overseas, stock match, pension, profit share, good benefits paid by employer... how much does family dental & extended health cost at TS or SW? Disability? etc... Air Transat pay dental and health costs and the short term disability. We...

dhc,

Year 2 FO I made 96 000$ few years ago, add some per diems (maybe 2000$ as I didn't go to Europe), some overtime at x2 every months

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

This is normal for a good proportion of Sunwing Captains who will spend 6 months in europe with all the extras thrown in there. Also if they take a winter base in Canada - more money there. No overtime required. Do I understand you right? $300K+ is normal for Captains at Sunwing? Without OT? Do you...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

I spoke to 2 close friends recently, they both spent almost 3 years at AC and they resigned. They went to a LCC in Europe flying widebodies (LCC that pays better than AC on the same payscale). They both really disliked their experience at AC, mainly because of the mentality. They don’t regret the mo...
