Re: Multi training
The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and, a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life where you get to experience all three at the same time.

2790s on an early 180?
I have a 1957 180A and I am looking for a set of amphibs. Has anyone ever seen an early 180 on 2790s? I'd like to have the bit more flotation than the 2700s give.

Re: Avionics and radio upgrades
Resurrecting an old thread to see if anyone has more up-to-date advice or experience regarding these, or other, radios. My Cessna has a venerable Narco COM 11 installed and it has always worked just fine. Problem is that more and more places I fly to, or WANT to fly to, require 25 khz spacing and th...

Re: PA28 Checkout
If a taildragger or flying boat, it's going to be just as Photofly says, the landing attitude is the pre takeoff attitude. That's precisely what I didn't say. I said that the best way to get an idea of what the view should be on landing is to consider the view before takeoff. I didn't say the views...

Float hatches wanted
I want to install hatches in my 2870s but I cannot find anyone to sell me any! Kenmore has not made any for years and has no estimate of when they might be able to sell me some in the future. Does anyone know of a certified hatch eligible for installation in 2870s or does anyone have a wrecked set o...

Re: AME cracked cylinder while removing exhaust - liability?
I will refrain from commenting about the "unfortunate occurance"... Realistically, what other Mx providers do you have at your disposal and is this a "hill you are ready to die on"? Been there, done that before... All the best, TPC Funny you should mention that! If you are referring to what I think...

They do appear to be in excellent shape. NONE are in OM though!CreatingLift wrote:I know an owner who's planes are impeccably clean and in seemingly perfect shape.

Around our airport we refer to it as "Homer Maintenance"! Some are maintained to an excellent standard - some are not.

Re: Ski landings, wheel, or three point?
Two point for the first approch/light "drag" to test the intended landing surface always. (Unless landing at a well packed established (ie: "known) "strip". After you've done that... It's up to you! This. I suppose you could "drag" a strip in a three point attitude but I can't imagine it would be a...

Re: Sportsman STOL drawings
Thanks for the tip. It's better than what we had but it still references templates that I assume are in the drawings. Hate having to buy something I already paid for once!

Sportsman STOL drawings
I need a set of Sportsman installation drawings to re-install the kit on my Cessna 180A. The kit was installed years ago and I do not know what happened to the installation drawings but they probably stayed with the shop that installed it. I've had some work done that required the removal of the kit...

Re: Fire Retardant Interiors
Not sure that's correct. It states that all aircraft must have shoulder restraints but there is no need to install them in grandfathered aircraft. It's a good idea and they would really like you to but you can just replace the old lap belts if you wish. Whatever is on the type certificate is the req...

Fire Retardant Interiors
I'm looking for a CARs reference addressing the requirement for fire retardant material in private aircraft. 523.853 addresses new aircraft requirements but is there not a regulation that stipulates that any retrofit or repair materials used in an interior must meet the same standard? Is there a dif...

Re: Harbour Air today
I'm confused, Where did this report come from? A Harbour Air de Havilland DHC-3 (C-GHAZ / HR316) from Vancouver (Water), BC (CAM9) to Victoria Harbour, BC (CYWH), was holding south of Victoria Harbour when the aircraft declared an emergency. The aircraft landed northbound near the breakwater. The pi...

Re: RCAF - Historical Photos
Thanks Chris! I'd like some more info on the flying boxcar. I've loved that plane since I saw Flight of the Phoenix (Dennis Quaid Remake, sue me, I'm under 30), but did not realize that they were the primary lifting aircraft like the herc is today. I think ultimately the reason I am so connected to...

Re: Taildragger Sim?
Thanks. I wonder how well it emulated the experience. I did NOT know that the Redbird used MS Flight Sim but my reason for not wanting a "Game" Simulator is the scale. It's almost impossible to get any kind of decent simulation for VFR handling without full motion but trying to use a single small sc...
