Re: CBC News story / no-fly ban

It seems to me there is more to this story that what CBC told us. If the hairs dont stand up on the back of your neck from wording like "employee discount" or "50% off airline tickets " or the fact you found this "service" on a chat app, then you deserve to get ripped off for the rest of your life b...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

YEAH OKAY. No, AC got the shaft. Canadian guys got the consolation prize, the "sorry we bought out your mismanaged airline" prize of an extra few years.

Back in my ramp days I worked with a guy who claimed he had 40 years of seniority. That meant he started when he was 14.

Re: Air Canada Buys Air Transat

Can we all acknowledge how smart this is on ACs part from a predatory/protectionist perspective? TS has gates, slots, etc at airports all over Europe and the Caribbean. Just imagine if WS got ahold of that?

OR here is a wildcard, AC goes to a B list scale, Transat to top of list as a consolation prize. Its not like that hasnt happened before.

Victory wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 6:34 am People might complain about a pilot merge but the alternative is if they keep Transat separate and have it be like Rouge 2.0 but without the ACPA. Then have those two pilot groups compete against each other.
Rouge and TS merge and abandon the B list scale a create a C list scale.

Re: What is it like being an aviation tech?

Air handlers are a lot more comfortable than laying on your gut in the avionics bay of a Dash-8 for an hour or two. Air handlers are a lot more comfortable than crawling through the man holes in a fuel tank of a 767. Think about it, seats are where the money is made on a plane and they take up space...

Wishful thinking... just like you were going to show everyone how to do the Atlantic when you got the 767s. HAHAHA this comment wins the Comment Of the Year Award. I love how cocky brooks gets about WS, like he himself is sucking the blue koolaid out of the tip of CBs wang. Just remember brooks, th...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

Conversely, why does Alaska own Horizon? Why does American own Envoy, Piedmont, and PSA? Why does Delta own Endeavor? Why did AC buy a chunk of Chorus? The trend in North American regionals is the opposite of what you're claiming: the majors are buying their feeders to have more control over them a...

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

No, there's a huge difference between changing management and finding new customers, and selling off components of the business. I'd like to know what, if any, companies they've chopped up and sold off. Are you aware of what a "private equity" firm does? While changing management and creating an IP...

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

I'd like to see some support for this statement, because I can't find any history of them stripping companies down. You gave yourself the support you were looking for. I said stripping, you said reorganizing. Same thing, just one of them is a management buzz word. But if you really want to do the r...

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

ONEX buys companies, fixes them up and sells them for a profit. Westjet has been trying to be everything to everybody. If i was a betting man I'd say ONEX takes Westjet back to it's core profitability model and sells off the extras like Swoop, Encore, 767's etc. Going to be an interesting next few ...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

L39 guy... Almost any airplane with powered stab tim...ie all Airbus and the B777, 787, can be trimmed "manually" at any airspeed from any trim position. The problem with the 737 stab manual trim is that it is just the pilot winding on a wheel connected by hundreds of feet of cable to the stab jack...

Re: Cargo Jet Drake's Privat Jet (Air Drake)

I guess Air Canada isn't sending them all to the desert. :D A fool and his money are easily parted. Kind of sad to see the old girl get pimped out though. This plane is a -200 with GEs, I didnt think AC had any -200s with GE engines. Im sure all the AC -200s both ER and non ER were all JT9D Pratts....
