Was there variable tailwinds on final? Must have been a fair amount of drag to pull him/her into the ditch.

If you are talking about the scooping plane contract - according to my friends that fix planes for Conair, AirsprayCLguy wrote:I think Airspray in Alberta would be worth talking to. The just secured a new contract in BC.
might not have the contract.

Not so sure about the retire young part. I don't know of any pilots that retired "young" from Conair.bigredone wrote: 4)Get hired, make a bunch of money doing some very enjoyable flying and retire young.

A puddle of oil is not a defect. If this puddle of oil came about because of the loose oil cap, then the cap must have been loose on a previous flight. Are you serious? A puddle of oil under a turbine engine is a defect.. a big one..! A puddle of oil under a R2800 should be investigated. Have you e...

Re: NT Air King Air Accident - Pilot Discussion Thread
Interesting article in Business and Commercial Aviation about this accident. maint left the oil cap loose, pilots lost control on final. Maint could leave a wing off. The final decision as to whether the aircraft is airworthy or not rest with the PIC. Low tire pressure, no trim tab, loose oil cap, ...

Not so sure it can be registered in Canada..I believe it is ex-Navy or NASA and those come with allot of restrictions.Siddley Hawker wrote: Coulsons already have a C130J on line, I don't know if it's registered in Canada yet.

OH No Doc,
Another gear up landing!
"The plane circled back to return to the Yellowknife airport, clipped some trees and just missed some power lines before it made a hard landing on its belly, passengers said."

TAF 1hr before he took off was predicting 1/2SM FZFG, becoming "5SM -SN BR OVC008" by 1900/2100Z. However the METAR shows that it was still "1/2SM -SN" after 2100. Probably a good reminder (as if we needed one) that you can't always trust the weather forecast when it says it's going to improve. Now...

WRT Satellite Phones - can anyone 'in the know' say if there's 100% satellite coverage over Antarctica? Is it conceivable that if they are on the 'wrong' side of the mountain, then the phone would not work due to lack of coverage? Hoping for the best. My experience with on board sat tracking is tha...

Flight attendants with Air North have filed an application with the federal government to form a union. http://www.whitehorsestar.com/archive/story/airlines-flight-attendants-say-they-love-their-jobs/ Interesting choice of unions. I wonder why they were doing this at this time of year. Usually spring is the season for float plane launching.

DO we know they were able to retract the gear? Maybe it was what is was. STUCK - some up some down.
I do agree - IF - They were able to fully retract the gear they would/should land with it fully retracted.
I suspect the gear was stuck - part up / part down.

Yes, as it is hard to get ramp rats in BF NW, Borek is now rotating ramp rats. Not sure of the rotation schedule, but you should apply.

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)
It's been awhile, but the Janitrol would normally be off for landing because otherwise it would overtemp on the ground and trip the c/b without sufficient airflow. Unless it's very cold outside, then it can be run almost continously (-30 and colder for example). The janitrol has its own blower/fan ...

Putting my money with hoptwoit in this discussion. Having said that if you think of a Seneca 2 with-out the density controller then I believe what spaner is saying is correct. Comparing apples to oranges..the only common item is the turbo-charger.
