Re: Safety board launches investigation of small air carrier
well, not to derail the Magenta love-in, but if we are talking about infrastructure, the top of my wish list would be to have all airports served with proper de-icing facilities. Perhaps the government(s) could provide at least 1 truck at each airport and then charge the users on a cost-recovery bas...

Re: Safety board launches investigation of small air carrier

Terrain is most definitley a factor up here in the eastern Arctic (not so much in the West, so I guess you would be half right :mrgr...

In my logbook, I have the strip listed as PADDY and PADDY NORTHGATE. The flight time for the day was about 5.7 (YYC-YEG-PADDY-YEG-YYC) so I figure the ...

.. I can only sum it up by saying INSERT COMPANY NAME HERE always seemed to be a day late and a dollar short -- they always under reacted, very slow to change and when they did corners were cut and we were caught trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear - in most ways it was a great gig for u...

...once you go ANR you will never go back to PNR... Balls to that! I've been using a Clarity Aloft in-the-ear headset for 4 years in King Air and Twin Otter. I have tried some ANR types (Bose and Lightspeed) and find the passive on my headset is within a dB or two of those ANR...and mine ...

Went on to fly the same plane later on in life.

Re: KBA Rotations/Pay
DHC6 rotations vary from contract to contract. Domestic rotations are generally 3 weeks in/3 weeks out... The international stuff differs from contract to contract. Some as long as months in country, some as little as a few weeks. The Antarctic is either 2 month or 4 month tours starting in October....

Re: Plane missing in Antarctica
Is there any agency in Antarctica which provides ATC services? No. If the crew were to have filed IFR, would it have made any difference at the end of the day? Maybe, Maybe not (ie is there even any radar coverage?) No. As the Borek plane was flying under "Canadian Aviation Regulation visual flight...
