Re: Fresh ATPL, where would you go?
Hi all, I'm relatively new to the industry, but recently got my ATPL. I currently work for a 703 in YVR, but I absolutely despise Vancouver. Given the state of things, where would you go with the following priorities: 1. Lifestyle (schedule/pay) 2. Home most nights (wife and kids) 3. Rural-ish livi...

Re: The Ol' PFO
Is it not enough that now you can literally buy your way in to Jazz ... and that AC can only reject 10% of PML flow ... now we have losers asking for 100% no questions asked, Jazz to AC flow. Geeez ...

Re: myIDTravel - General Availability Error with Air Canada, 3 weeks and counting
Call the 1-800-413-1118 and hope to connect to a human. They’ll be able to list you. They might not be able to list you if you’re within 1 hr of departure on the new reservation system. Old system you you could list anytime even past check in which was nice. I remember this summer sometimes it would...
Re: One List
Just because you can hold the left seat seniority wise doesn’t mean you’ll pass the assessment and upgrade course. One would hope most pilots are sufficiently self-aware of their abilities and experience level.
Re: Swoop
Jazz vs Encore pay  One will have a slightly higher T4 ... but I mean in real life what does that get you ? An extra case of Costco Deluxe KD and a 6pack of old Milwaukee per week ? They’re both below poverty level for their city bases. One will have slightly better benefits and RRSP. One ...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
The issue here is not the quantity of flying hours but competency. The FAA’s reaction to increase minimum time for an ATPL to 1500 was an overreaction. And yet it had the positive expected consequence of increasing the salaries of airline flight crews down south. The American unions are fighting ha...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Would you think swg is better then AC? It depends. With a bit of seniority and depending of your family lifestyle it can certainly be as good or better than AC for a while, but its a totally different kind of operation. AC certainly has better long term pay and flight benefits (them B1 passes). But...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
With regards to the MAXs for Sunwing..are they being brought in as replacements or for growth? both? Interview coming in December... Bit of both. As mentioned above the entire fleet will someday be replaced by Max's. Good luck on the interview. Best place I have ever worked for lifestyle. Would you...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Oh here's another pearl of wisdom you might want to consider. Hiring at Jazz is still done by pilots. HR have quite an active presence on these boards. You're going to tell the guy hiring you that he's a Stockholm syndrome victim and that his experience in Norman Wells means nothing compare to the h...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Wait, so you don’t even have your CPL and you’re already speaking like you’ve got a job at Jazz? Oh boy.. For what it’s worth, the “college kids” with no experience up North weren’t really “welcomed” on the line when I was there. Perhaps things have changed since. Entitled ? nonono he says he'll se...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Honey ! I’m home. Good news ! I re-mortgaged the house and our kids future so I can buy a 150 000$ job that will allow me to fly a shiny jet for 40k a year. Why yes I’ll be gone 19 days a month while you have to stay here alone, work and take care of the kids. But you’ll get to tell your friends at...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Sounds like jealous is guiding what you say. Plenty of people would like to have some kind of guarantee since the music will stop eventually. Are you unable to consider people in situations that aren't your own? If you have a partner with a good career, it'd be extremely selfish to say hey leave yo...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Yeah. Because everyone stays at the low end of the Jazz scale forever. Ramp a Cessna 206 or Buffalo Joes for the rest of your life. The money is so good. Or brag about your contract day rate that you can’t just pick up any time when you need to redo a roof. I hear real estate in YZF is cheap. So is...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
If you don't wanna move up north go get your instructor rating and do that until you get 1500Hrs and Jazz will take ya! Or, and this is crazy but hear me out, do move north for a year or two since that time is nothing when you’re in your early twenties. Come out of it as the interesting person at p...

To understand TVS corporate safety culture, one should look at the QS-1125 incident this summer.
