Re: IFR flight test questions.

All you have to do is one PA (mine was full procedure ILS) and one NPA (RNAV/LPV on mine), it all depends on the availability of the NAV facilities of your intended destination airports. Of course, full holding procedure is included too. What he said Some examiners count LPV as a precision approach...

Re: Porter or Air Georgian

Let me clear it up. As far as regionals go. Jazz is where you want to be. Porter great co too. Many friends at both. Run well managed well. Ggn and sky, have set the industry back 20 years. All of our unions fought for better wages and lifestyle, and these companies and pilots who choose to fly for...

Re: What the...?

So can someone explain to me how they do personality profiling? Ask him if they've killed anyone See if he wears women's clothes to the interview Check if he has a half decent sense of humour, in -40 weather. when you are a grunt on the ramp, you need it Having a normal conversation with him to see...

Re: Aviation Document Booklet - Expiration

Print the application, fill it out, sign in the box without touching the edges, get passport photos, have photos and application signed by someone who knows you and has a passport, mail it to transport canader, wait. Exactly, it's not that confusing. I just had to re-do mine not too long ago. I got...

Re: Jazz Experience

I know the conversation is about flight time , my question along with the flight time is has Jazz ever hired a 50 year old with 1200 hours? Thanks If you are 50 years old, and Jazz is your dream place to be, and with 1200 hours, you might want to see a shrink to deal with that mid life crisis. Just...

Re: Looking for some advice for my training

If you want a degree, Momcton Flight College, BSc , you'll graduate with a frozen ATPL
If you want to plot through it real quick, Harv's Air, or a good flying club that have lots of airplanes, like Calgary Flying Club

Re: 1500 hr min

I think one should need an ATPL to fly 705, no matter which seat. Airline operation = airline license. I guess that implies 1500 hour minimum. I concur. But wouldn't restrict it to 705, 704 could use some experienced FOs too. But I guess that's what contrail requirements are for. Also surprising to...

Re: Which school is better? HARVSAIR or moncton flight college

MFC is awesome. Great flight training, and has a Bachlors degree program, which you might find useful back in Egypt or some of the major international airlines. As long as you do well in flight training, your chances of getting an instructor gig there is very good. You can eventually get to teach th...

Re: Envoy air and the Americans

And a flow to mainline. However this is nothing more than supply and demand. There are very few pilots on the back end of the upward hiring. These bonuses are designed for other regional pilots to laterally move from one RJ to another. But are there any regional or mainline companies in Canada that...

Envoy air and the Americans

Envoy air and the Americans are starting to get the right idea. I wish Canadian companies would follow!

thanks to everyone for the advice. I am fighting a battle everyday in my head and I'm still stuck, but I know I will do the right thing once it comes down to it. I'm sure you will make the right choice, or already what you think is. But try to think of it this way. Which choice is going to leave yo...

Oh yeah. It seems like all of the moms get together and decide how to divide the wealth of the neighbourhood selling x crap product for y dollars, and woe to the parent who upsets the balance or invades someone else's 'turf'. Look, I have kids, you have kids, let's just spend our money on our respe...

Calgary Flying Club and Calgary Flight Training Center are two different places. The latter is out of the Olds-Didsbury airport. Flying Club is much better.

I had less than 4 hours when I did my multi ride. Just learn all the single engine procedures, know it like the back of your hand. The rest of it, it's just another airplane.

I don't think instructing is my thing. I want to move up the ladder as fast as possible. I do uber right now haha. Extra money and easy for me since my schedule is all over the place. In terms of instructing, i don't think you have much of an option. I have had lots of friends who have been through...

737 - Direct Entry

I see that WestJet has a PCC posting for 737 FOs. I had the understanding that they move Q400 guys into the right seat, with all the upgrades being internal. For those of you who have been in the industry since they started, does this happen often at WestJest? Does Air Canada also hire directly to m...
