Re: Direct entry captains at Canadian 705

Not sure if I would call this a fair system when it promotes being loyal to a company and reduces competition. I would say not too dissimilar to the various anti poaching deals that got companies like Apple and Google into trouble in the past. I’m not saying jump ahead of the seniority list. That m...

Re: Direct entry captains at Canadian 705

Just a broke and dumb Canadian pilot working in the industry trying to get an understanding of our wretched industry by looking from the outside in. :prayer: My mistake then, you were speaking like someone coming from outside the North American market. I know it is much more mercenary in other part...

Re: Direct entry captains at Canadian 705

I would be interested to know where you live and what the aviation industry is like there. To answer your questions: 1: why companies like AC or WJ wouldn’t go out and get the cream of the crop? 2: Is this just a Canadian thing or don’t US majors also not hire DECs? 1: There has been, and continues ...

Let me put it this way, who laid off those pilots?

1: The company?
2: The other pilots?

Junior pilots were hired into a mess, so senior pilots are responsible for the mess?

Two can play the stupid game if that's what you want.

Re: Competing Union

The sentiment that a large number of lower seniority pilots have toward to the senior pilots is very real and must be considered if unity is to be rebuilt. A group of pilots with seniority numbers low enough to protect themselves from the ravages of the pandemic are giving the impression that they ...

Re: Competing Union

Thats not the way management thinks. They take care of themselves now, and in the future. Its time pilots in Canada unite as one and start demanding proper WAWCON. Two words folks... PARK BRAKE. Actions speak louder than words. I'll start here. You are correct and I agree with you. But that was not...

Re: Competing Union

It’s going to bite the senior pilots at some point. Next time there is a vote on increasing senior pilots pay or getting more vacation, the junior pilots who were laid off or bumped down will not vote yes. Senior pilots got a win here but for the junior pilots I have talked to there will never be a...

some of them are losing wives, kids...? If a person's wife actually left them because they were laid off, maybe she wasn't a keeper to begin with, IE: she wasn't in the marriage for the right reasons and this was just inevitable. The vows are, for better or for worse. Or, there were other problems ...

So what would you have preferred? Every is unhappy but nobody ever says what the fix would've been I'm not sure if you are asking me or simply_no_one. I'll answer because it's pretty obvious what simply_no_one meant... put everyone who's job was effected (as in, no longer actually employed) on EI r...

Dare to dream... but I will put forth a proposal to the universe and hope it gains traction: Proposal to all airline executives in Canada. When the next election comes, no one leases an aircraft to the Liberal Party Of Canada at any point during the election campaign. They don't like aircraft and wo...
