Tighten up your seat belt, crack open the doors, and put it in the drink. Instead they chose to put it down here: http://www.ocvil...

My god! Obviously it's easy for me to say but I most definitely would have chosen 100m offshore vs ploughing into people on the beach.

Re: Pilatus Porter in Indonesia
I worked closely with them during my time in Indonesia. Their horrible accident record is a result of under qualified (local) pilots going into some very demanding locations. Jungle strips, mountainous terrain, massive thunderstorms... you can easily find yourself in a bit of a pickle if you aren't ...

Well I doubt anyone would question the pilot's ability to fly an NDB approach after that!

Re: Viking Layoffs
Regarding cold temps and EFIS. G1000's are fine I suppose but the engine gauges are also digital. The problem there being the minimum temp for the screen to function is -20 (or around there I can't remember exactly). So how do you warm up your avionics if you can't start the engines in the first pla...

Re: Viking Layoffs
Sad news indeed. Good Canadian jobs going by the wayside, a real shame in our 150th year! I like Viking and what they do, but they effectively neutered the series 400 which is why they've yet to sell ONE domestically. The new Twins suck in the cold and aren't certified to fly STOL. What next gen air...

Black Tusk and all going on about "lowering the bar" need to give their head a shake. What some people consider to be lowering the bar is in fact a raise or promotion for someone else. Do I wish we were all paid more? Yes. But I'm not about to tar and feather some poor chap who's trying to better hi...

Re: Qatar Airways in a bit of a pickle.
I hope you have a comfortable flight home. I've done my fair share of travelling in the ME as well. While I'm glad to have spent time there, I was equally glad to leave. The money is certainly enticing, but the culture and political climate is just way to extreme for me. As for the ME being a powder...

I'll tell you one thing. Whatever goodwill I have towards resolving a situation, it is instantly gone the moment a camera is shoved in my face.

http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/sounding-off-two-people-filed-2801-complaints-about-airplane-noise-last-year Last year, a single Calgarian complained to the Calgary Airport Authority 1,707 times about aircraft noise. That’s, on average, almost five phone calls or online submissions to the ...

Will the WJ Encore pilots vote to join their brethren? Will they nurture a crippled WJPA back to health? Or will everything descend into chaos and endless bickering?! Be sure to tune in next week!!!

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
There will always be inefficient pairings. As you said the route structure is what it is, 100% satisfaction is impossible. That being said, the inadequacies of the system shouldn't be at the expense of the pilots. In every other profession, one is duly paid for their time. It is a cost of doing busi...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
WJ enabled me to make $370,000 in 2015 and in spite of a skydiving injury that had me off work for 4.5 months in 2016, I still made $302,000 plus 4.5 x $8000/month tax free. I'll keep what I have thank you very much. But if they do manage a CBA, I'm sure my seniority will have me making a bit less ...

Lisa Raitt was an anti labour, cost cutting conservative yet airport taxes continued to rise under her watch. The fact that she's even running for leader of the cons is enough evidence for me that the Harper conservatives are alive and well, despite the bludgeoning they received in the last election...

Re: Westjet to start ultra low cost carrier
WJ doesn't have a foothold in the business class or international markets so from a business perspective they're not about to let anyone else come in and eat their lunch. You can gripe all you want about the race to the bottom but at the end of the day this is a reactionary move against a threat to ...
