Re: Commuting from YOW to YUL

I actually considered doing that. Living in YOW with base in YUL. The drive is a colossal pain in the ass and 2hrs is definitely calculating it optimistically. Keep in mind also that parking in YUL is remote and not covered. It might work on paper but in practice it’s not doable. I got myself based...

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

We have a website made by ALPA to get an estimate for the upgrade times. I was hired a year ago and can be 330 WB captain, bottom reserve, in 24 years from now. 777 captain bottom reserve 26 years from now. For narrow body, 220 captain on reserve in 3 years and a block in 8 years. That's for the YY...

Re: Where to knock out Group 1 quickly?

Fastest I know of is Cornwall aviation. It's the only thing they do. You can fly twice a day and knock it out quickly. It's outside of Ottawa however, but they have hotels nearby.

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

Has there been any recent discussion around the 67 retirement age? I half assume between shortage of pilots, in-flight technology, and health improvements that by the time I retire in a few decades it'll have been changed.

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

Just to add my 2c, if this is data driven, and we're using 55% inflation, it's a red herring. Garbage in garbage out. That stat can and will be be used because it's officially posted, but it's completely arbitrary. We all know full well a house or rent is not merely 55% more. Groceries, restaurants,...

Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa

I’d imagine MU2’s would be similar to most other turboprops and on a runway the length of Wawa you wouldn’t need the brakes really Unless there was a swap in the last while, YUA had the 5 blade composites as well, which hauled on reverse like it has a tailhook. It's not a great place overall but le...

If people stopped responding to this troll he'll eventually go away. It's obvious that there's no actual discussion going on and he's just spamming, and derailing all the AC subjects. Going on the ignore list.

Spoken like a desperate union leader knowing he’s not getting what he’s hoping for… Out of curiosity, why are you on this site? It's an aviation forum primarily for pilots. What's the point of coming on here without sharing any common interests, purely to comment with the intent of pointlessly anta...

Re: Hand flying Cirrus

Diamond DA40? More of a pilot's plane than the Sr22, but very gentle. Loved flying it, Everything is more reasonable than the Cirrus. Molded seat shape can be an issue for some but can be customized.

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits

No need to call someone out personally. I haven't read through your comment history, but each time I see you post about Flair it's negative and speculative. I'm not sure what is so interesting about Flair or 777 partners that garners so much time and attention from someone not working here. You adm...

Re: Corporate Captain or Airline FO?

PPL, sure. That post above made zero sense, but the helpful answer is that with a few technical exceptions generally you can be capt on anything under 12.5kg, so Citation, King Air, etc. Is it on a jet? Co-captain structure? Pretty rare on the light ones though.... Also, is this airline your intende...

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits

As an aside, I've been saying for a couple years now Flair airlines only exists to lease planes from 777, and is racking up a soon-to-be unsustainable debt in doing so. Wasn’t it about 2 years ago you got booted from the Flair hiring pool? I'm not so sure about that --, but that's an interesting po...

With a 20 kt 80 degree xwind there is zero chance that was wake turbulence from a lander before.

Ha! I saw that and took the same picture for the same purpose. This is supposed to be enticing?? FO pay isn't bad, but what's the point of sticking around for the capt pay? It's laughable.

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits

Genius really. 777 is making cash hand over fist with that structure. Makes me think. My question is, in the US is there not backing regulation with insurance that you need a certain proportion of your exposure immediately available as cash, much like a registered bank? As an aside, I've been saying...

Re: Timing the cycle

WJ got 24% over the next four years, but only 15% immediately. Absolutely awful. See, in 4 years that 24% is only effectively 18% at most, but since inflation will probably be more than the baseline 2%, it will absolutely end up being far less, even zero is likely. So they really only got a 15% rai...
