Re: Is this the first AIP to not be in the benefit of the company?

Almost every airline represented by ALPA has been on an upwards trajectory in pay and benefits. It may not be as much as most of us would like, but upwards nevertheless. I believe Jazz is the only exception to that. At my previous job, we saw substantial increases in things like pay, training credi...

Re: Is this the first AIP to not be in the benefit of the company?

ALPA hasn't been able to make any headway in Canada because of ACPA. ACPA is the old man on a 1 lane road driving 30kph in a 100 stretch blocking traffic and shaking their fist at everyone honking behind them. Be interesting to see the results a year or 2 from now. AC management sadly has timing on ...

Re: Flair Pilots

Lots of gloom being sent from non-flair pilots. I'm very curious on what the internal consensus is with the entire situation. Has there been any communication from executives to any staff? Heard that CEO addressed most employees and apologized for his role in the 5 day overdue lease defaults and op...

Re: Flair Airlines - Planes seized

Not sure what this means for them, could be nothing, could be something - but they got in bed with some no bullsheet mf's down in New York. I think their head office might be in Jersey. I have pondered this one. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are organized enough to be aware of...

Re: Convert Canadian ATPL to FAA

How many of you guys managed to get a job at an airline over there considering that you're still canadian and not an American citizen yet I was hired and sponsored by an America business jet operator. The licence conversion took a few weeks, and the O-1 work visa takes 15 days for approval if your ...

Re: Convert Canadian ATPL to FAA

Absolutely the first I've heard of this...

Your regular line pilot isn't going to qualify - but this is an alternate doorway.

Did you or did your emoloyer organize the lawyer and paoerwork for this visa?

Re: All you underpaid airline pilots...

Has anybody here successfully converted TC to FAA and scored an airline job in the US? I recognize from the first post that it could be ~$6000 USD to convert, but would a single guy (who can move anywhere) with 1500+ hours and an ATPL have a shot realistically at sponsorship/a VISA and a job, or na...

Re: Flair Airlines - Planes seized

Don't forget to Supersize it.

Our industry lends to such an unwelcome response to competition that the likelyhood of the very visible gains in the U.S would never transpire here.

Fingers crossed Flair steadies their feet after that right hook of a move.

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?

Maybe AC is selling an idea of growing to a 6k+ pilot airline to attract naive people who think they will get an upgrade to left seat in 2 years. Don’t be surprised if in 5 years it is still a 4K pilot airline and upgrades slow way down. Flair also promises massive expansion, we will see how that w...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?

I'm pretty sure our Government and ALPA in the USA would not allow that to happen. It's certainly not looking up for that to transpire, but if all the U.S majors petition the government in one voice, who knows what is possible. ALPA can kick and scream all day, but money talks and the airlines have...

Re: New hire thoughts

Agreed Personally, I am rooting for Porter. But, the economics of the E2 does not lend to a low cost carrier. Presently, they are competing with price even though I admire the on-board product. Would you expand on that? From what I've experienced they've got the product, they've got the pricing and...

Re: New hire thoughts

What is AC's incentive for doing so? AC is having no trouble finding resumés, and the only thing holding them back from more experienced pilots is the stingy flat pay that some people think is too great a sacrifice. Do you think Delta or American had trouble finding resumés? All the regional pilots...

Re: New hire thoughts

I guess the interview didn't go well? 😕 Interview? I’m a 35 year A330 Captain at Air Canada. No, I didn’t apply at Porter. ;) But, I do have an MBA in Aviation, (from Concordia in Montreal) and I look at Porter with fascination. Since their first flight 15 years ago they have not achieved an operat...

Re: New hire thoughts

BS NB Captain is about 230k without overtime. I rarely break 20k in a month. How much overtime are these guys you speak of doing? Actually, I was looking at 767F Captain. A buddy is making about $22,500 a month. (Plus expenses). And plus about $3000 every time he picks up a Western turn on a draft,...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?

And now American! https://onemileatatime.com/news/american-airlines-pilot-pay/ A 737 Captain will make 475k usd, that means 655k cad. A 777 Captain will make 590k usd, that means 813k cad. Even if the AC pilots get a 100% raise, they will still be very far from the salaries people are getting south...

Re: New hire thoughts

More people need to do what you just did or things will never change Pretty sure they still had flat pay, it was just the bottom 2 years cutoff - you still had 2 years of relatively low flat pay. May have been marginally more pallatable for the pilot group had it not been a trojan horse filled with...

Re: How old is to old to go to AC?

For clarity... Junior 767 freighter Captain is around 4 years seniority I think... pretty sure that's a former furlough... That's a widebody. Pays like a narrowbody though (@#$! you Mckay) and the schedule sucks. That said, AC isn't as good as it used to be. Far from it. Unless you're a 777 CA alre...

Re: All you underpaid airline pilots...

I dont doubt that there have been successful cases getting approved lately, but feel that some in this thread think that it is something that will open the flood gates for a flow down south. All this information should be taken with a grain of salt because like you said, its not a sure thing. Lawye...
