Re: 12,500 hrs. 45 years old. A320 Command, Beaver Otter and Floats
What most people don't get is that an airline pilot continues to accrue seniority on the pilot list at the same rate whether they are working or sitting at home. I had a callback today for a part time position and they started asking about what I could do if it turns into a full time position. After...

Re: Ugly evening to ditch
Going around the San Juan islands and down Whidbey would add at least 30 nm to an already long flight. If the aircraft was coming down Vancouver Island the distance between the land South of Metchosin and KCLM is only 11 NM. 5000' at the worst point might be enough depending on the size of the tires...

That's a file photo, not the aircraft in question.

Re: Left or Right seat
No aircraft require an ATPL to fly from the left, they'll require a CPL with the IATRA, but good luck getting insurance for said aircraft if it is multicrew only. ATPL guarantees (if you don't flop the ride) you'll hold the type rating and will likely qualify for the underwriters requirement as wel...

Re: Left or Right seat
If the aircraft is multicrew, and the left seat requires an ATPL to fly from the left, then that is required as well for the SIC. Could you please tell me an aircraft type that requires an ATPL to fly from the left seat? No aircraft require an ATPL to fly from the left, they'll require a CPL with t...

Dr Strangelove hands down. "Goldy, how many times have I told you guys I don't want no horsin' around on the airplane?" "I'm not horsing around sir." "We'll I've been to one world fair a picnic and a rodeo and that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard come over a pair of earphones." Although the Bl...

Re: Left or Right seat
The CARs have absolutely nothing to say about PIC / SIC in the left or right seat. The requirement is for each pilot to be trained in the seat they are occupying for that flight. This does not have to be a PPC. Doing a PPC in the right seat and then 3 circuits in the left seat is sufficient training...

The helicopter in the video is nowhere near the boat and does not fly over it.AngelsSang wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 12:10 am Could have flown out a bit further behind it, no need to go right over the stern.

Re: Coastal Pacific aviation
Ripping off or bad business practice is charging customers $300 for one hour solo flight. This is what Chinook does. This is almost double the price of other schools. A couple years ago a friend of mine decided to finish his ppl after a 10 year break. He went back to his old school and all the othe...

Re: Minimum Climb and Descent Rates IFR
I’m sorry, I don’t remember anything like that. I’ve flown lots of planes that won’t climb 500’ per minute at sea level though, especially in summer, no specific IFR restrictions on them. Just a climb gradient of 300’ per nm for departure obstacle clearance (is it 300? Might be wrong) Honestly I do...

Do you not remember this guidance photofly?
Now that you remind me of it, I think it was effective under 10 000'.

What is quite interesting is that somebody here thinks the business is going back to "normal" once we are all vaccinated..or not. Do you pay any attention to the economics that are transpiring all around you? Not going back to "normal". This is very true. We are also heading quickly toward communis...

Minimum Climb and Descent Rates IFR
I'm sure there used to be a paragraph in the AIM requiring a minimum feet per minute for climbs and descents but I cannot find it. RAC 8.4.1 (a) just says optimum rate consistent with the operating characteristics of the aircraft. Has the specific requirement been removed? Moved? Never there? Am I o...

Re: Engine Failure After takeoff (simulated)
Sorry I'm obviously not making myself clear. I have +10k hours flying aircraft with FPV, I'm not asking what it is or how it works. During takeoff in the video you state that you are pitching to 7-8° FPV, what I'm asking is: 1. Is this a Pilatus procedure or is this your own procedure? 2. Since the ...

Re: Engine Failure After takeoff (simulated)
So if I understand correctly you are pitching to get a specific FPV because you have an FPV? Is this a Pilatus procedure?
