Re: A 10 year WJ FO just went to AC
The main advantage of coming to AC is the demographics of the pilot group. At least 100 retirements a year . In my opinion, there is going to be a huge amount of retirements in 10 years from now. Another advantage is the diversity of the fleet. There are so many different flying jobs that cater to ...

Re: Why does AC not have a base in YYC?
The only reason why YWG still has a base, is because it has a base. If they were to reduce YWG to zero they would have to pay to move everyone to a new base (should the pilots choose to move and not commute). It's probably easier keeping the base.. They used to have ETOPs 320 crew based in YWG for Y...

Lenaumade, everyone is telling you to relax. I just don't understand why you are so bent on arguing for less than we are worth. You're actively working against our best interests. Let that sink in. As for Gary stepping down, I believe those that are left in the MEC advised him they didn't want him t...

Re: Mainline hiring
Just curious. Everyone says take home pay is garbage for the first few years. But I don't understand your pay very well. Without a pension obviously it's important to take advantage of the WSP so include that. At AC as a 11 year skipper on the 320 (very similar to our 737 pay) I take home about 10k ...

Didn't Canadian Regional guys win the lottery back in the merger?
In any respect I think the company is victims of their own success. Now watch what would happen if the border opens up.

It's going to be great once you get the ground school started, a good ground school would be very detailed and cover things a forum can not. Back and forward pressure would generally be in relation to the elevators. Applying a bit of back pressure on take off can get the nose wheel off the ground a ...

Re: ALPA is not the answer, current ACPA isn't either
The vast majority of pilots I fly with (mostly on CWIPP) think ALPA is the answer. The chair and VC in YVR ironically, probably have done more too sink the ACPA ship thann help it. All ACPA has done in my time here has reduced membership engagement and lessened our collective futures. Any gain that ...

This is a tough situation. If you can get refered to a clinical psychiatrist and hammer out the diagnosis/treatment/non treatment first it may help you out.

Re: Looks Like it is True That Not Advising of NADP1 Can Create a Conflict
In the US I think the expectation is (unless expressly mentioned otherwise) to accelerate to 250 kts as soon as possible. I (and everyone I fly with) use NADP 2 on every take off in the US. A few people would do noise 1s in Canada. But I know YYZ essentially says no when ever they are doing VFR sepe...

Re: How much is this dysfunction costing us?
It's probably a high bar to get DC or JF recalled in YUL, but maybe there is a chance in YVR, 2/3rd is a tough line to cross however if done properly with many furloughed guys back on strength maybe the membership could recall BM or QJ?

Re: YYC Base Opening Soon
I specified flight crew not cabin crew... We also have a YWG base that will probably live for a while because of the potential costs of closing a base/moving pilots.

"We are introducing Calgary as a mid continent hub" - Investor's Day 2022 (March 30, 2022) https://vimeo.com/689250946/6fbfe554f3 48:40 Mid Continent hub does not mean flight crew base. I doubt it will happen it's easy enough to operate or DH pilots into and out of YYC. All a hub means is in refere...

Re: What shirt are you wearing?
Many at my work wear Lululemon commission pants and company provided everything else. The comfort difference is so noticable it's a no brainer. I believe some wear Moores or Costco pants too. I went to Lululemon yesterday and looked at these Commission pants and they don't really pass as AC uniform...

Re: How many days worked?
737 has actually turned the 320 into a regional jet. 737 does lots of transcons that used to be 320 flying. It can't really replace the 321 on a capacity stand point so the 321 still does some transcon flying. Ultimately at AC the seniority system dictates the senior guys will work 10-11 days tops o...

Re: What is flat pay?
As mentioned flat pay doesn't exist anymore (since 2012). We now have a new hire 4 year pay scale which most refer to as flat pay. In any respect it's a fixed pay rate, no day/night or overseas/Nav. It's just one pay scale with a monthly guarantee of 75 hours. If you work more than 75 hours you get ...
