Fanblade, I totally agree swoop is not a start up
It's an FU for certifying. I was being nice, my previous post I wrote the night before while drinking was much more blunt. I decided to edit it.

Re: What's the oldest age one should consider AC
Thanks for the well thought out discussion points. I'm gonna ride it out at WJ, 5th year captain is tough to walk away from, especially with years of service and a pension on the horizon. I remember some tough times you folks went through, were now going through ours. It's a cycle, as someone said t...

Re: Advice on route across Northern Canada in late July
If you swing into inuvik go chat with the aklak pilots about any questions you may have on your route. I used to work there and would from time to time chat with pilots flying vfr to or from Alaska. One couple just had road maps as they were following the Dempster highway lol. We set them up with so...

Re: Swoop WestJet Captain Bid/Late Schedules?
But it's Westjet flying? Are you suggesting that now that you've spent all that effort and negotiating capital to secure the flying, you don't want it after all and it'll go OTS again? Nope not at all, my understanding is they can’t get people to sell their souls and screw over their counter...

Re: What's the oldest age one should consider AC
Thanks for the responses. I've run the idea by the misses in passing, obviously being early 40s with 11+ years in at WJ it's a lot to consider. I'm seriously concerned with the direction(s) we're going and frankly I fear for WJs longevity. Good luck to all those who make the move.

What's the oldest age one should consider AC
With so much turmoil at WJ these days, conversations abound in the flight deck on what age is one too old to consider AC, and yes I've considered it myself, although I think I'll be staying put (I truly hope I'm making the right decision). That said if things get much worse I will apply. I figured d...

Re: How old is too old?
I'm flying with FOs (westjet) my age (early 40s) that are in their second careers, and only started flying 5 years ago. You're fine. Given that theres a huge hiring wave going on and he's already working I'd be surprised if he's not at the regional level within a year. We have captains in their earl...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up
To add additional context to compensation, its worth looking at the benifets side of the paystub. You may have a lower hourly rate but higher net if the benifets are employer provided. At westjet I have 18 deductions It's equal to a good car payment, and our benifets are sub par.

Remember to thank US ATC
Trumps government shutdown has left our american ATC without pay since dec 22. Think for a moment if they walked. Not sure about yall but I am truly thankful they haven't. So when talking to them, be sure to pass along a heart felt thank you.

Re: Why does anyone want to work at WestJet?
Ok, I'll bite. First let's discuss john. As annoying as he is here, I hear from my peers hes generally enjoyable to fly with, and a good pilot. There are obvious exceptions then again I'm sure some dislike flying with me. As for westjet. It's honestly still a very good career move. while it's not AC...

Weedpro you are truly an asshole. @#$! you, I hope you and your squirrel suit slam in a cliff. We may disagree with John's opinions, but never ever wish injury to a fellow aviator. Not cool. Thank you KAG . I believe the person who posted that comment directed at me is now on an LEC Executive at WJ...

Re: New Arbitrated Contract
John, yup ya won that bet. I never would have thought anyone with a basic understanding of aviation would rule to allow swoops current wages to continue. So heres my homework for you if your up to it, what is the lowest paying 737 captain jobs in north America, then extend out globally. I'll bet swo...
