Re: Turbo Beaver Hard landing

There wont be an investigation. 74 year old pilot in question was honest about the cause, just stated 'I screwed up'. Nothing to investigate. It was quite a refreshing read actually. Imagine that, a pilot that bent an airplane and is not hunting high and low for some way of deflecting the blame els...

I have hauled many gallons/litres of bulk fuel and gas. The only aircraft with a "comfortable" system was the Herc.
You need to add fuelboss to that list 😊. No bladders, no barrels, no configuration changes.

Re: Are degrees important now?

Isn't this exactly why degrees were considered useless?

"I have a degree from 20 years ago, and 0 experience in the field. Hire me over that 22 year old grad. I'm in my 40s and might stay, but I get a boner with big planes so I'll probably leave soon."
Like said, get a trade.

Re: Quick reaction prevents a runway excursion

On a III, Amber NWS fail light means its uncommanded hyd pressure, leave the NWS on.
Green Nose Steering flashing means disagreement between pedals and nose gear (3 degrees i think). Disengage and revert to castor.
You can spend a day looking up cadors involving metros going sideways on landing.

LMAO good advice. Follow that and you'll never get off the ground...well legally..... I didn't say he should follow exactly what he did at the end but my understanding is he did have a reasonably successful cargo operation going at the beginning. How many small cargo operations have you setup...

Re: Getting Into Cargo Business with C208B

Good on you for your entrepreneurial spirit. What you're proposing to do is not going to be easy. You could maybe contact the person that used to run Kasper in NW Ontario. I don't think that ended well but he could maybe give you some pointers on how to get started. LMAO good advice. Follow that an...

Re: Weather Radar Tilt Methods

No formula. It changes so much per airplane. Tilt down until the ground is surely reading around a mile ahead of you. Then tilt up. You'll see the ground reflection move further away. Keep doing that until the ground is reading at a distance of about 90% of your current range. Note the tilt setting...

Used this method for years, a good way to know you're not painting the ground.

We have to aggressively use speed brakes to get back on the profile (or increase IAS manually - if possible). Sounds like you should have anticipated when they said stand by and prepare for not getting it, rather than reacting and being "aggressive" Also, could've queried before the "Boeing" starte...

Re: Can Tourism Operators Survive Another Year of Border Closure?

It looks likely that very few Canadians will receive any kind of vaccine before the start of summer. By that time the Americans will have their vaccination program well underway. If they get their numbers under control while our numbers are still off the graph, there may be a movement BY THE US to ...

Re: Halifax crash report coming Thursday

According to a source of mine.....AC is slowly changing their procedures on the Airbus to what the Airbus procedures are. And apparently all kinds of procedures making it 'hard to keep up with all the changes'. I have no confirmation on that accuracy of this. That statement doesn’t really make sense

Re: V1 in small twins

Most, if not all, operators that fly twin engine aircraft, use V1 as the decision speed for small twins. An engine blows up before V1, you abort, an engine blows up after V1, you continue and rotate. Ok, great. Now, V1 makes a lot of sense if you look at airline operations. It truly is a decision s...

Re: Hawk Air

I wonder...if there is an interruption of the check list, whether one should restart from the beginning to avoid this pitfall, or even restart two or three item back on the list, in the case of more complex aircraft. I can't speak for 705 aircraft, but when I flew IFR any interruption of the flow, ...

Re: BETTER HURRY!! THEM PPCs BE EXPIRING!!

Better off giving someone else the shot and mold the way you want them, not a disgruntled airline pilot. I find sometimes operators use this type of language to mask taking advantage of less experienced pilots. Less experienced not only in terms of flying hours but also in what is and isn’t accepta...

Re: BETTER HURRY!! THEM PPCs BE EXPIRING!!

Everybody whining about being overqualified; who's going to hire a laid off pilot that's going right back to their spot when they get the call back and have to re hire again? Better off giving someone else the shot and mold the way you want them, not a disgruntled airline pilot.
