Re: A request of the Moderators

Colonel Sanders has some valid points about user status/ranking, and we have been examining several types of this for a long time now, I don't post much but I do frequent the site often. There is tons of great info as long as you can sift through all the garbage. You get to know who the knowledgeab...

No, not that I can see/find so just the plates. In terms of the regular CAP volumes it is not a digital reproduction of the book - just the plates in what looks like a good quality scan of the original.

Re: Foreflight now has Canadian IFR charts and plates on Ipa

$150 per year for all of Canada. I just fired up my iPad and downloaded the latest ForeFlight updates - all the CAP Plates are there. Great Stuff!! I am only a regular HD subscriber ($75 per year). The $150 Pro version gives you the geo-referenced approach plates or is there some other subscription...

Re: Foreflight now has Canadian IFR charts and plates on Ipa

Interesting timing. I am a ForeFlight user but was always disappointed with the lack of Canadian content. Just announced: http://jeppdirect.jeppesen.com/legal/charts/ifr_jepptc.jsp Looks like were now going to have to choose. Hopefully some of the magazines or electronic rags will do a side by side ...

Re: Aerocourse IFR

So that means you can go through the whole course twice? and replay while within a module as much as you want until you jump to the next one? Pretty much. The entire course is divided into 10 separate modules. You have to finish each module before the next one is made available. Finish means clicki...

Re: Aerocourse IFR

I signed up for and took the Aerocourse Procedures Course but did it as a stand alone. You can find it here: http://facultyofflight.com/ The Aerocourse website is vague but I am pretty sure this is the "New Online IFR Procedures Course" you get when signing up for one of their weekend courses. http:...

Re: Online Groundschools

Need to start studying for the INRAT. Anybody have experience with either of the below courses? Any reason why one would be better than the other?

http://pilottraining.ca/lms/
or
http://www.canadianflightinstitute.ca/ogs/

Any other online resources out there?

Thanks

Re: Missing PTR

Never thought of it in those terms but as you say getting it certified takes little effort and possibly could pay off in the long run. Next stop - CFI of the flying club with logbook in hand. Interesting point about the journey log. I think I'm going to bring mine along to show the CFI who presumabl...

Does this advice apply to PPL's? In other words, will never be looking for a job flying but for insurance, ratings etc.

Re: Freelance instruction hookup website?

Been watching this thread from the beginning and I find it very interesting.

For what it's worth:
I have a PPL,
I own an airplane,
I will be looking for instruction soon,
I definitely would use a resource such as this.

Re: this or that

Depends what you want it for. A MacBook Air is a computer and you can load programs/software etc on it. If all you want to do is surf the web, email and use "apps" than an iPad is your ticket but it is NOT a computer. I have both and now, usually only travel with my iPad given that it can do pretty ...

Re: Annual Maintenance Costs?

From what you've explained, per hour 'ownership' costs would decrease as flying time increased – which in turn would increase fuel costs and…… Correct however the fixed costs (hanger, insurance, subscriptions, fees etc) don't increase with more flying time so the per hour cost decreases with more h...

My specific details for 2010 .... Please note that YMMV Shared PA28-181 with two other friends/partners I flew 45 hours in 2010 Very simple math - my per hour cost was $125.00 This includes my share of everything for the year eg. insurance, hangar, annual, fuel, oil, reserve fund, fix this minor wha...

Did you not read what he wrote? You even quoted him. "only works with a phone". The iPhone is a phone. Safe to say, the iphone will work with the BT. Yikes. I suppose I could have been a bit more specific. The bluetooth only works with the phone functions and if you want to listen to iTunes on your...

Advice - Garmin GNS 430W Training Manual or DVD

Hi There

Upgrading the panel to include a Garmin GNS 430W.

I know of the Garmin Simulator available for download but to complement this, any suggestions for a good training manual or DVD to do some couch flying with.

Thanks,

In addition to all the above, I used http://www.pilotexams.com/ and it was very helpful. This is not a free site but I thought it was $25.00 well spent. It's been a while so not sure if the quality is still there.

Thanks Hedley. Good to see something for the private aircraft owners. Mods - I know it's been kicked around before but there really ought to be a private owners section.

Re: Lost Pilot Log Book - What to do???

You could try contacting the broker who insured the plane. It's likely that the owner would have had to fill in a questionnaire about authorized pilots PIC/Dual experience. Not sure if this would be acceptable on it's own but it might serve to backup your claim.

Re: Bose A20

Tried on a pair at their booth in Oshkosh the other day. Great seal and noise reduction with really light tension/clamping force. New switch design but essentially the same as the old models. Super comfortable and really effective but what can you tell from a 2 minute demo at a trade show? The blue...
