Re: “I compete in Canada, so I need to be competitive in Canada,” - Mike Rosseau
I think my favourite part is him saying he needs to be competitive in Canada as well as; - we code share 58% of our seats with United (American carrier), WJ has 14% - our business is built around flying Americans all over the world with 6th degree freedom - international markets is where we make all...

Honestly I’ve never seen such busy loads at the end of September as we have had this year, not sure if others are noticing the same.
Normally right now is relatively slow and lighter loads

Do you have decent equity? Have you considered selling your house and finishing your license asap then applying everywhere and moving?

Re: Reno ends on a sad note.
Damn. Complete one of the most dangerous flying activities succesfully and safely, only to crash in the circuit for landing. Fate is cruel. Very sad :-( I remember seeing videos of 2 crashing at OSH years ago and I get the sense that the circuit and landing phase may be more dangerous than it seems...

But that would mean 90% of applicants would be offered a job that apply regardless of experience since they are willing to recruit low times out of flight school. And we know that is false. I know of 3 people personally, with 1300 to north of 3000, all with turbine and some with turbine PIC time th...

Some incorrect things in that the delta pilots got an increase of 7.2 billion not a total contract value of 7.2 billion as an example.

Re: Transition from the bush to an airline - I could really use some advice
1500 hours all single VFR would make it very tough to be competitive for either WJ or AC. If you know your IFR is a bit rough do a refresher in a red bird sim or something at a flight school. 705 airlines are there to teach you how to fly the aircraft you get hired on and they aren’t going to have t...

Ben Smith added to BOD

Interesting to see Ben Smith added to the WJ BOD. I thought he was going to be Air Canada’s CEO a few years ago.

You are coming from the military so you will understand this. The defining quality of a leader is to seek and accept responsibility , as a Captain. Stuck in the right seat for 10 years would be awful, no matter what “ lifestyle” you choose. AC is the way to go. Air Canada is hiring 1000 more pilots...

Re: Pilots that crash don’t get raises
Lots of union & pay talk going on between pilots None of us want to be a passenger with crew that enter wrong FMS data while discussing a collective agreement Focus on the aircraft while on duty There’s time to talk MEC updates when waiting for crew transport or at the hotels You can even volunteer...

Re: New CA Expectation
It’s not just wages that we need to fix, we have contract sections that are light years behind like training outside the block and vacation. I keep seeing people just focus on how much hourly rate we are behind when we also need to focus on how the F we have widebody pilots doing over 16 days or som...

AC’s investors were not impressed with their operational performance last quarter. Management needed to do something before heads roll and if that means focusing on the core markets with the resources they have it’s what has to be done. I think Porter is being viewed internally as a decent threat as...

It’s also pretty typical for management teams to stay on for a period of time “x” after an ipo since investors will want continuity in the business they just bought shares of otherwise they wouldn’t have bought the IPO shares. Who knows what the internal Onex thoughts are on this by my 2 cents is th...

What seems alarming to me is that they are not even paying the interest on their debt but just adding more principal debt with the interest costs. This is like the payday loan cycle that people get into a downward spiral with. If you can’t pay down debt right now with one of the most robust travel m...

AC makes all its money on widebody flying. I don’t think jazz can do anything to fill in to any major extent in the event of a strike by AC pilots.

The problem with pavement anywhere you have permafrost is the requirement to insulate under the pavement to keep it from thawing the permafrost and causing issues. The problem is this results in paved runways that are covered in frost.

It’s been a longggg time since I’ve flown a classic dash. But isn’t that why we would hand pump the hyd pressure in the right side main wheel well on the first walk around of the day??? Also verifying the hyd pressure gauge in that wheel well in the process, insuring a certain value was there as it...
