Re: Open up new bases already !

Whats the lastest on new bases ? Seems like a nice place to be, but before they open up at least YOW and YUL, a lot of experienced pilots (myself included) wont join. Smart thing to do is to open them up before air canada scoops the rest of us up when that new agreement comes along, good luck staff...

When will the strike be allowed as per the collective agreement? Not the CBA. The Canada Labour Code. Click starts running after Notice of Dispute filed by one of the parties (impasse in collective bargaining). https://crpeg.ca/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Collective-Bargaining-Process.pdf Where a...

Re: Aggregated US regional payscales

Does anyone have the 25 year calculations for AC and WS done up? Obviously at AC you have to make assumptions about upgrade time, but I'd be interested to see a comparison.

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

So in 1 year the music will stop playing at AC? If we extrapolate from there based on previous cycles, there will still be seats at WestJet, Jazz, and Encore for another year or two of hiring, plus the expansion at the ULCC level. Based on this, and barring an economic catastrophe, the music on thi...

Re: Reserve out of base

Management said they never intended to follow a calendar day for either duty or pay purposes. Our Red-eye turn flights are considered one duty day (not two calendar days) unless you call in sick. Then the company is deducting two sick days. This results in most crews being underpaid 3 hours for eve...

Re: Reserve out of base

Hello, If you are on reserve can the company make you go to another base for the reserve period? For example if you're on reserve in YVR for 4 days can they make you operate out of YYZ for those 4 days? Thanks! They can and are. We have pilots being sent all over the country to cover reserve shifts...

Re: Southwest airlines pilots reach tentative contract

A First year Southwest FO makes what a Flair 3rd year Captain is making. False You're absolutely correct! SW Year 1 FO $116 USD = $156 CAD Flair Year 3 Capt = $158.82 A year 1 FO makes $2.82 LESS than an year 3 captain. So sorry for my inaccuracy! Now lets compare what these two employees get to ke...

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

When were the last few hiring booms at AC? 2007 2011 - 2012 2016 - 2019 2022 - present [mass hiring rate to end mostly by end of next year]. So in 1 year the music will stop playing at AC? If we extrapolate from there based on previous cycles, there will still be seats at WestJet, Jazz, and Encore ...

So did they have a jammed elevator trim then? saying the electrical and manual "were inoperative" isn't very descriptive. So with 3 people in the FD they were all unable to manually turn the trim wheels?

I'm sure co-joe or tbaylx will be by any minute now to explain how the situation is just fine since Flair is the only airline to have proven the ULCC concept works, and how we're all just misunderstanding everything. I've got nothing, good to know I still live rent free in your hea...

16 years in the biz for me to break 100k. It blows me away how many online videos there are of the top 10 or top 15 high paying jobs in Canada and pilot is never even mentioned. I though it was in the top 3 highest paying jobs at some point in history, now it's not even in the top 15? Remind people ...

Re: Canada given C grade in flight safety oversight, confidential UN agency report finds

... My favorite part of the article is where it mentions that Canadian aviation is safer than it used to be, with less fatalities than we've had in the past. That's great, but our peer countries are improving at a much faster pace, and Canada is getting left behind. "...no major commercial airline ...

Re: Canada given C grade in flight safety oversight, confidential UN agency report finds

Having the same controller do clearance, apron, ground, and tower at the second busiest airport in the country, where you have flow control on sunny VFR days is a classic example of a country that has de-funded flight safety to a level that will eventually kill people. It's just a mater of the holes ...

Re: PICUS

Does this program exist at Flair? No, our lowest time upgrade has been with 4000 total time and a ATPL, a specific program for 3500 TT is rumoured to be in the works, as far as I know we don't have any need for a PICUS program. I'm sure by 2026 we will need one, but for now there are so many other ...

... Does anyone really believes Canadian customers entering a recession can support - AC - WJ/SWG - Porter - Transat - Flair - Lynx - Jetlines Especially at 25$ a fare ? With these lease rates ? I don’t get it. The question you should be asking, is if going into a recession Porter, AC, and WestJet'...

Re: Difficulty in getting a RAIC?

If an airline asks the question if you will be able to obtain a RAIC you have to say yes, you won't get hired if the answer is maybe or no. In your cases I would probably go get hired by Tim Hortons or EFC or Menzies or something and do the process. I don't know of a way to find out without actually...
