Re: Misfuelling Thread

[/quote] IIRC Jet A doesn’t mix very well with Avgas but it does float on top. I suppose in a pinch you could top that tank with 100LL and hedge your bet by only using it for cruise until you get to a maintenance base. Even then I’d only do it on the company’s recommendation so if fingers ever point...

Re: Westjet mask policy

I'm kind of a latecomer to this discussion, so bear with me. So there's a respiratory disease making the rounds, which is pretty reliably reported to be quite serious, and which is transmitted mostly through contact with droplets that emerge from an infected person's mouth and nose. It's been satis...

Re: Jazz Recalls?

Pretty sure AC could hang their hat on this and a judge or arbitrator would likely agree to temporary scope changes: Force Majeure means, by way of example only and without limitation, events of the nature and scale which have a significant deleterious impact on the operation or finances of the Comp...

I look at science Do you have copies of any peer reviewed papers on the subject? Or are you just repeating what you read online that others call 'the science'. Some interesting numbers these days. Something to take note of, Richmond has a population demographic that is pre-disposed to wearing masks...

Re: Seneca or Confederation College

For what it's worth, speaking as someone fortunate enough to be a currently active Jazz pilot, here are some numbers for the airline: -There are 1516 pilots with Jazz seniority numbers on the latest seniority list. -The most senior "active" pilot on the August 2020 position list is #845. -The compa...

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I would never have considered turning down a job to stay on government assistance. I have been out of work several times in this industry and sure I have collected EI for a few weeks here and there to get me through and I was grateful for that. I also vowed...

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job

If you are receiving COVID pay (supplemented by Jazz) you are probably getting about the same as a 703 operator can afford to pay anyway, so unless you REALLY need the flight time, DON'T do it. And there lies a real problem with these support programs. People have the attitude that they have the ri...

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job

Pretty sure the collective agreement at Jazz says that if they are to recall you while you have a contract or agreement with another employer, they can provide an LOA and that such a request shall not be unreasonably denied. Yes it does: .09 The Company may grant an LOA to any Pilot who is recalled...

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job

Good evening, I was at Jazz and laid off couple of months ago due to the covid situation. Just wondering if you should take the risk to go to a 703 operator and pay the training bond in case jazz call me back or... if I should wait with a non flying job. Just asking your opinon. thx for ur help! Ta...

If you think teenagers have said dude in the last 20 years, it shows how out of touch you are
I am certain I am out of touch, but my kids aren't. I had to laugh when they started using 'dude' a few years ago.

Re: Fire the Transport minister

Within the past month I have emailed TC (Pacific region) twice. I requested a phone call and was called same day for one and next morning for the other. Pacific region, though not sure if that’s relevant. Wonder why red laser apparently has no success. Emailed TC Pacific region on Friday and got a ...

Fly on some other airlines around the world and maybe see how bad Air Canada actually is. Even Ryan Air and Allegiant are better in so many ways.

I call BS. I have flown on both and many others over the last few years. I would take AC hands down.

Do you know how easy those tempature checks are to game? Right, I forgot about the huge thermometer gaming industry out there. Unfortunately if you have a low grade fever, a good dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) can easily be enough to lower your temperature enough to get past a temperature check. T...

Your attestation is valid for six months from your last validity period, it expires Nov 1, 2020. If your health is stable, a second attestation can be done which is also valid for six months. This will bring you to your original expiry period. My "previous" medical was valid until May 1st (Cat 1) u...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

Hello everyone. What are your best guesses when jazz will start recalling inactive/layed off pilots. The only reason I am asking is because I have been offered summer employment but I don't want to accept it if jazz is going to recall me in July or Aug. I have been with the company 2.5 years and lo...

How many furloughs does this mean or does it mean no more hiring for a while? How many years on the pilot list will it go back? On the other side, no more excuses to not respect the new duty regs rapidly. I understand that most carriers have applied for and will receive an 18 month extension to bri...
