Re: IATRA validity
Get it as late as you can, it's not a hard test if you study for a couple of hours. I believe 1900 is 2 crew type rating now. Before you apply anywhere just do it, will open doors regardless of what you do when you're done. Get it as SOON as you can, regardless. Why wait? It is not a difficult test...

Re: IATRA validity
I believe 1900 is 2 crew type rating now. The 1900 isn't 2-crew unless it's on the TC list. It's a high-performance type rating but not 2-crew, which has caught a few pilots I know; they apply for their ATPL, and discover that their SAMRA and SARON have been expired for a year, and then exclaim "Bu...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
No matter what your eventual flying career goal is, ANY FLYING job will prepare you better for said goal than any ramp job . If you want to fly a C46 or DC3, great. If you don't have the hours yet to qualify, go get a flying job and reapply as a direct entry FO or Captain. You'll have gained way mo...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
Oh god. These topics are so nauseating. Especially the part where the snot nosed kids tell an accomplished aviator the way of the world while doing their best to diminish his career. It's hilarious to see the same mushy little cupcakes who would trip over their own undescended testicles for a $37k/...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
You can't reference conversation with an Encore pilot as a unionized worker because their contract hasn't even started to be negotiated (their union hasn't had the chance to do anything yet) . WestJet pilots have had their union win to defend what was one of the biggest undercutting aviation has se...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
Ah yes a group of people set on the betterment of their profession who limit under the table deals and targeted managerial attacks. Or, recently as in WestJet's case, protecting future growth and upgrades, as well as maintaining current wages on identical jobs on same types. Horrible. I sense there...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
That is a lot of money to spend to gamble on making a living flying airplanes. How much more did it cost you to go the college route and would you advise others to go the college route? This was probably 10 years ago or so, so take that into consideration. I'd say it cost me 15k or so more to go th...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
I sense there's a couple of managers on this forum, questioning why people who spent 100k on education became self aware of their worth. Does it cost 100k now to become a commercial pilot? As to their worth that varies from pilot to pilot, but essentially they usually end up getting paid what they ...

Re: Harmless fun or.....?
Just checked this guy's YouTube to see what his channel's theme is..I regret adding another view to his videos. Definitely a loser, from what I can tell he would maliciously send a blow up doll in the departure path of aircraft. Smoking in Walmart, intentional offensive interviews where he berates a...

No, I am saying the sensor must have been wrong. The structure is only certified to 3.3G's "someone correct me if I'm wrong" I think a 5.7 g would have snapped the gear and possibly the wings off "Certified to" is different than "destroyed if exceeded". Just like "max demonstrated crosswind" or "G ...

Re: Plane crash caught on video from inside
Can’t maintain altitude on one engine? Is that normal for a Convair? I don't know much about those planes but the prop is still going, if it's not producing power those are some pretty big planks and drag. I'm assuming those props feather? The engine wasn't shut down until it hit the ground from th...

Re: Two become one? Planemakers work on tech to cut pilot numbers
The sad thing is that single pilot airliners are inevitable. If it saves even a cent for every flight, it’s probably worth it for airline management. Once more and more people start warming up to the idea of self driving cars, it won’t be long before they welcome the idea of autonomous airplanes to...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave
I have yet to sign on the dotted line for a job that didn't say "and other duties as assignment by a supervisor". Quit your whining. This is why the industry has this old mentality that is still alive, and fortunately will die off in the next couple of decades. "Whining" is what you call someone wh...

Don't like it, don't apply. Don't like the requirements, get mommy and daddy to buy you an Air Service just like they paid for your licence. Or apply to straight forward job postings for ramp jobs. I'm not saying 200hr pilots shouldn't start on the ramp, I did years and years ago, and my career was...

Sent an email asking specifically if it was Ramp with eventual FO or FO with normal ish duties (de ice, towing etc. For your own flight) "We have a pilot shortage up here right now so the odds of you getting checked out on the aircraft fairly quickly are very high. We have a few new pilots who have...

"Well that post looking for a FO includes "maintains flight watch over all Buffalo airways aircraft", along with a number of other ridiculous job requirements.. Kind of hard to do full time in the right seat of an airplane, no?" There are many posters on this sight who have done this and much more....
